Look guys here is the deal whether you want to acknowledge the facts or not.
What Bob Stoops said was true. Now, what it means is there is a propaganda machine called EsecPN that has a " Vested Interest ". Is the SEC the best overall league? Yeah, it is. But The fact that EsecPN pushes that propaganda constantly is the driving force of it's absurd arrogance.
Here is the problem in a nutshell. College football is a sport that probably is the most popular sport on the planet next to the NFL. So look at it like this. If the sport had 100 million " fans " of the sport. I would honestly say only about 5 to 10 million of them have a " understanding of it and it's history ". So what does that leave you? The Sheep. The sheep are the people at the store or office talking smack about things they really know nothing about. I remember last year during the season when some guy started a thread in this forum stating that teams like Miss st, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Auburn, Vandy, Arkansas....etc, etc. Would not only win other leagues, but destroy the competition. And so there is the problem we have in college football. The " Average Fan ". The Average fan is brain washed by media outlets like EsecPN. All they know is what they there being brain washed into believing.
Im from the South. Love Southern football. But hate, just absolutely hate the arrogance and ignorance of my fellow brethren. You guys know me pretty well, I have been here on this site for several years now doing what I think is a positive and benefit to this forum. I think I have a rare overall understanding of the ENTIRE football landscape. So that's why I see and understand the problem in college football now. The problem is college football isn't the game, it's the fan base. But the propaganda machine that Bob Stoops talks about is absolutely 100% correct.
Here again, the " understanding " of this game is whats key. College football works in a cycle. The powers shift all the time. The SEC rules now but soon the Big Ten might. In my lifetime I have seen where all the SEC, BIG TEN, PAC 10, ACC and BIG 12 have all been on top at some point. But the one thing I have NEVER seen is the absurd arrogance that is the SEC now. And they have a pretty powerful driving force called ESPN. Yeah, the most powerful media outlet on the planet. So before you start to bash sit back and do your homework and understand that this is great game. The best Game on the planet IMO..... lets not get carried away in the BS.

With all due respect to ya Boom when it comes from Bob Stoops a man who's team has underachieved for a decade i'm less likely to believe it. Look I'm not anti SEC or pro SEC quite honestly i don't care. There is more than 1 conference for me in college football. I watch all of them and bet them all
ESPN does the same thing for the NFL. Can't get them to talk MLB on there. I put in the NFL forum "Why did you need the NFL network when ESPN is the NFL Network?" It is what it is boom and it ain't changing. Maybe Bob Stoops should start living up to expectations and not worry anout the SEC. Just my 2 cents

mafioso my point is Bob Stoops with the horse crap he has put on the field and looking like big game Boob in big games. Oklahoma has been picked to win it all a lot of years under Stoops and he has underachieved and so have his teams. He needs to get his team tougher mentally and physically and not worry about the SEC

I used to consider Stoops one of the greatest coaches in college football.I dont think that anymore.Im an SEC guy,but when people act like the SEC is so much better its not..Take a look at the New Year s games.Northwestern whips MissST,Georgia pulls away at the end to beat Nebraska & South Carolina was very fortunate to beat Michigan.Boom,u are gonna think Im crazy, but I think ESPN favors the Big 10 more than any conference.Michigan and Ohio State get so much pub its absurd..Gameday-Herbie-Buckeye and Desmond-Mich..Olklahoma is always touted to be this great machine and havent had a great team since they ran into a damn good Tebow-Florida team who beat Bama without Percy Harvin.Oklahoma had no business playing for the 2003,2004 and 2008 National Title. In 2004 Auburn wouldve beat them by 3 touchdowns..I loved the post game speech after Stoops& Okla beat FSU.."Its safe to say Oklahoma football is officially back!"..Miami shouldve been playing that game for 2000 National Title vs minus QB..EDDIE Blake s kids..Factoid-Oklahoma didnt have 1 starter injured the entire 2000 season.Another reason I dont like Stoops is in the interviews Ive seen he gives Spurrier a lot of credit for his coaching success and NONE to Snyder.Last year if u analyze every position OU had better players than Kst in almost every position.OU FUMBLED A LOT,BUT THOSE KIDSder JUST rantGI still dont know how Stoops lost to that awful Texas Tech Tuberville team 2 yrs when they were undefeated .Personally,I think Stoops is burnt out @OU and needs to take a yr or 2 off to recharge and go coach somewhere else.It still makes me sick that they got to play for National title in 2003 right after Snyder s Kst team blew them off the field by 4 touchdowns in Big 12 title game..that would never happen these days... Every year the SEC team that has played for National Title they deserved and prevailed with Auburn getting screwed in 2004.Obviously,if u see how Auburn replaced KansasSt with Citadel that ultimately hurt them in 04 and Im bias being Auburn man. Then Texas beats Okla 30-20 and it wasnt that close in 2008 and Okla gets in bc they beat Big East Champ Cincy..Texas got screwed to hell and back Imo ,having a 4 team playoff will be the most exciting thing in Sports.I would like 6 with #1 having a bye 1st round, but I can not tell u how stoked I am about a college playoff.I just pray they NEVER GO more than 8,but if u are a CFB junkie like me more is better.I like .When that 1st Saturday kicks off I feel like a kid on Christmas again. There are times I like to be left alone and watch football from 11am until the last sec of Hawaii game.Times I like to go to Auburn for a game tailgate or go to Neyland if Auburn is playing,Times I like to go to an Auburn party and drink so much I dont know what my bets look like until Sun morning..I love Thurs night games even if its Utah vs Utah ST..watching that game earned me some money later in season.I like watching a MAC game on Tues night,,,love college football and 99 perc I dont work on Saturdays during football, but last yr I made an exception Auburn vs Ole MISS and TxA&m ...

Boom, i agree with you for the most part. The fans uninformed fans are most of the problem. And the SEC is plastered everywhere on ESPN. But the big 10 gets it's share as well. Think about this. Winning 7 championships in a row is unprecedented for a conference in this day and age. So when one does it, they are gonna get more media attention. And with that fans are going to have a cockiness to them. Even the bottom feeder teams fans. The thinking is, "hey we play in the conference that produces the Nat champ every year. We're automatically better than you." While that thinking is very flawed, i can understand it. There is a great deal of parity in college football that goes un-noticed by most people. But it's hard to argue that the top two or three in the SEC aren't above the rest. It seems like since auburn won their title every game after that has just kept getting more lopsided. Anyway, my point is the public and common fans as a whole are brain washed and don't see the parity. But it is pretty hard to over look those 7 titles lol.

All Kansas St had to do was beat a subpar Baylor team and they couldnt do it.Snyder had his chance in 1998 and collapsed under pressure. He has had 2 shots and failed. He is a great coach, but I simply cant even put him in Don James' category. When u are on top everybody wants to hate on u.I saw it in 2010 with Auburn...they will lose to Georgia,Bama will get em in Tusc,No-Scarolina will beat them in the rematch..All Bama fans saying "it wont count!"..The banner is still hanging and it doesnt look like the SEC is slowing down..I dont care if TexasA&m has 3 starters back they will be electricfying with Johnny Football..it wasnt just the Bama game. His stats were better than Cam's and Tebow's.The kid can pass the football on a dime.He passes like Montana and runs like Steve Young..to think all those Texas boys Sumlin is gonna get.I think the Final 4 playoff is only going to give the SEC more chances to win the National Title..I do agree with Boom,Oregon has a great team and an underrated QB who can do it ALL...Ohio State s Braxton might be the best QB in the country.I think he is better than Troy Smith ESPN s Heisman Trophy winner.

Bill Snyder has done more with less than any other coach in ANY sport in history. Thats not my opinion, thats a fact. He resurrected a pitiful football team TWICE, using players the big schools passed over....
Now, on to Stoops. Hes 100% correct. ESPN knows where their bread is buttered. Its good business for them, I get it. Until other conferences rise up and start dropping Bama its not gonna stop. The typical fan turns on the tv on saturday evening and watches SEC football. ACC,Big 10 and 12 and East games are already over or have started and the Pac 12 games dont start for 2 or 4 more hours......
Boom, hope you are ready to battle me in the contest this year. No mercy. Sorry

Guys.... I not sure it could be said any better then the way just put it.
Snyder is the "wizard" a genius among geniuses...
I did a very extensive thread about him and the history of what he has done not just for K s.t, but for College football in general. Guys, just look at his coaching tree.....look at what he has produced.

You got to love guys like sethlanebeen in the SEC 1 year and has it tattooed into his logo now.
Here is whats really funny. If Texas A&M were still in the Big 12.......SEC nation would have said, well.....it's just a Big 12 team. Johnny Football couldn't do that to " SEC " defenses.....

It cracks me up when people talk about OU has "Underachieved." All they do is win 10 games a year and people still call for Stoops head (I live in Oklahoma, & its bad here). OU being ranked in the preseason top 10 or even 15 the last 2 years has been a joke....the teams havent been that good. The good thing about Stoops is that HE'S NOT BURNT OUT OF COACHING OKLAHOMA, he made that pretty obvious when he fired 3 coaches this last year. He did it b/c 10 win seasons arent enough, and he wants National Titles, & the way to get there is younger fresher coaches that can bring in recruits. OU doesnt have the players right now....plain & simple.
As for this thread....SEC is the best conference, no doubt. But ESPN rides them along....although it is deserved at this point. If people want to gripe about the SEC dominance, then point the finger at teams that allow them to continue to get in the title game. Oklahoma St 2 years ago, K-State & Oregon last year. If those teams win, then it could be a different story.

Listen, Stoops and his team are irrelevant. He's just mouthing off. Normally he is reticent. Someone asked him a question and of course stupid came out.
Oklahoma is a backward facing state with a bunch of declining schools. Oklahoma loves Stoops because he represents what they think they are.

Pecador normally I wouldn't even comment but since you were the last post here.. you make zero sense. Declining schools? Backward facing state? We're gonna start a covers kids forum and let you be President.
Go do some research and get back to us with some more genious comments.
Boomer!
