#1652 Posted: 1/5/2013 2:35:29 AM Reality check time..Packers and Ravens both cover-you don't think both won't right? So worse case you break even, most likely you win both...look at both team's records at home in Dec and Jan.... |

I believe the reasoning behind the tease was, the line on the Nets/wiz game trended down after he was locked in. With all the movement the bet was less attractive, so he teased the under to 190 to give a larger sweet spot. Either way he was going to cash but if it hits between 185-190 he hits both.
He kind of explains a few pages back. |

#1662 Posted: 1/5/2013 9:08:51 AM OK, today is NFL as well and I will try to sync between the two threads (I have a thread in NFL Forum as well).Yesterday: I know we almost covered that Laker game. Contrary to other picks that I can dislike even if winning - I still like the bet on Lakers although it lost. That is Los Angeles basketball. Because of the game being a popular event and betted live - the game is always strange and sucks lots of money from people who are sure that the "Clips" are slaughtering the Lakers, and then the Lakers staging a comeback etc. I am happier with my 1-3 today than 3-1 on some other days as today I unlocked few more trends that will cash me (us) in future and our goal of creating steady monthly income based on methodology and not just luck is just around the corner. GL to all, keep positive mind set, and remember - this is no grocery store here you just drop in for picks. If you want to learn how to handicap for yourself - you'll have to go through the thread. |

Probably worth pointing out, when it comes to the FA Cup, form goes straight out the window. Thats the beauty of the competition.
Love the thread guys. |

#1670 Posted: 1/5/2013 11:45:10 AM Saturday Leans:Something to pay attention to: the most attractive game today seems to be the Rockets in Cleveland. I mean - look at the Rockets and look at the Cavs. One team is flourishing into the 9-1 ATS in last 10 games team. While the other is heavily undermanned and is able to beat only teams like Charlotte that could beat themselves if left alone on the court. The line opening at Houston -5.5? Are you kidding me? The Cavs have lost their last 5 home games by combined 41 points which is average of -8.2 points. The Houston rockets are 4-1 in their last 5 games away showing +45 points margin ratio which is +9 points per game. In that course they beat the teams like Milwaukee, Minnesota, Chicago and the Knicks - losing only to the Spurs by 6 points. So, now let's check the week day factor. May be that is why the line that opened at Houston -6 is at -5.5 only now while by all the indications this should be a close to DD Houston win. The Rockets are 3-3 on Saturdays since the beginning of the season and 1-2 in the last 3 games while the win was at Minnesota. Two losses were both at home against OKC and Dallas. And how the Cavs are doing on Saturdays. I have a feeling we're gonna be surprised here . Well, they are although 1-7 SU, they covered most of the games on Saturdays. They lost to the Nets in Brooklyn by only 3 points the most recent one, beat(!!!) the Bucks in Milwaukee by 12, lost by 1 to the Knicks in MSG. Those are the recent 3. All covered. Each time in a convincing manner. So. here's a discussion topic: are the Cavs covering tonight? Covering only the first half? And is the game going Over as we're dealing with the teams that both are 7-3 in the last 10 (14 Overs in the last 20 combined).
And if you wanna get serious about the capping - contribute with the same way of research about each and every game |

U telling something is fishy with hou line? There must be a reason why the line is set that way. Unless the line was set to trap bettors.. ????? |

#1672 Posted: 1/5/2013 12:11:45 PM Mavin, the Dallas NO line seems to be set the same way as Houston Cleveland. New Orleans must do alot of covering on Saturdays! |

#1673 Posted: 1/5/2013 12:13:41 PM I like your write up Mavin.
A couple more notes on HOU @ CLE:
In games against the worst of the NBA, HOU is 1-3 ATS:
vNO won by 12 (cover by 2)
vWAS won by 6 (no cover 4.5)
vNO won by 4 (no cover 2.5)
and an SU loss @TOR - the only road game in that set.
I have heard people say CLE gets up for home games vs good teams. Can't think of any real good examples (maybe beating LAL, if you consider them a good team)
On the other side the spread is definately not where I would put it either. HOU is 7-6 ATS on the road vs CLE 3-11 ATS at home. And HOU is 14-4 ATS off a SU win where as CLE is 2-5 ATS off a SU win.
Anyway, more to look at still.

#1674 Posted: 1/5/2013 12:37:09 PM Mavin, haven't been following you for long but I like your work. You do well digging deep into the numbers to find the edge. IMO, finding what's buried beneath NBA numbers is difficult. Keep up the good work. I've been playing your leans for almost a week now and have done well. Thanks for what you do and keep it up. |

#1675 Posted: 1/5/2013 1:13:56 PM Good luck Jax, I just hate playing against the home team on a Saturday night. The home team sometimes gets caught up in the crowds emotion and it ends up making a close game a blowout. Thats why Cleveland plays good on Saturday night. I see that game being close at halftime and the Mavs (with Mark Cuban fist pumping) pulling away late. GL |
