Oh sleep, how I miss you. Thanks, St. Joe's faculty, for making my final month of college so enjoyable. Anyway, my record on sides is pretty awful. I don't feel like I'm necessarily misreading games as 9 of the 16 losses are by a single run. Royals/Broxton were a nice kick in the behind today. I'll still be playing Kansas City quite often, though. Totals have been reasonably good, but who knows how long that will last. First play of the year for more than the standard "unit": Florida -112 (1.5 units) Kind of a spot play more than anything else. The Phillies' offense seemingly awoke from its doldrums, against an ace, no less. Six runs against Josh Johnson is impressive for any offense, especially one with as little punch as the Phils currently have. Now, they have to turn around and face a pitcher who has essentially nothing in common with Johnson. Going from facing a power righty to a finesse lefty is very difficult, especially when most of your lineup has either never seen him or has just a handful of AB's. Keep in mind, too, that Buehrle has obliterated the National League throughout his career, though he's never pitched at Citizen's Bank. The Marlins' offense hardly thrills me, especially with Stanton hobbling, but I'll take my chances against Blanton facing a team that is pretty familiar with his stuff. Leans: Detroit -114, LAA-MIN Over 7.5, Seattle +220, SEA-TEX Under 9.5
