#115 Posted: 2/14/2012 10:16:56 PM I knew this thread would pop up. There is clearly no discussion right now. The Rangers are top dog in the Eastern Conference right now. No rational person can dispute it.
I just caution everyone it is only February and Cups are won in May and June. There are a lot of tough games until then and no doubt the complexion will change (injuries...trades etc.) But...my hat is off to the Rags. Their style of play...top goaltender and willing to block just about any shot taken make them almost unbeatable when they get a lead.

#116 Posted: 2/14/2012 10:19:25 PM The Rags have made some strides since that last game against the B's. Unlike the first contest, they looked in control tonight after that PP goal in the first. News flash the team that had only that one PP goal against Boston in OT over the last month...has gone 5 for 12 in winning their last 4. I've posted this before but if their PP becomes even slightly above average, this team is going to be very difficult to beat come playoff time. Listening to the Boston announcers tonight, you would think game decided the eastern conference seeding. That game a month ago swung these teams in opposite directions. NYR 8-1-1 including tonight and Boston 4-5-1. They have 2? more to play against each other? Pens and Rangers have 3 more...Either of them can certainly make up this gap if the Rangers falter down the stretch. I just can't fathom these rumors about Jeff Carter coming to Broadway. Not sure what to think...I expect them to add a winger to the mix despite their current depth. Hell, it will be nice to not sweat the last 3 games of the season as must wins to get into the playoffs for a change. They sure have come along way this season. Is anyone still arguing the point that they are THE team to beat at the moment....at least in the East. Funny to read earlier in this thread about Tim Thomas being better than Lundqvist. Tim giving up 3 or more 7 of last 10...Hank giving up 2 or less 9 out of last 10 with 4 shutouts. The fact that he hasn't won a cup somehow counts against him? Their have been plenty of hall of fame players that never won championships in every sport. How you make this a point of comparison is beyond me, Pinball.

#117 Posted: 2/14/2012 10:24:04 PM Boo is right NYR playing well. NY had 8 shots combined 2nd/3rd period, they better hope King H stays healthy. B's can't buy a goal. |

#120 Posted: 2/14/2012 11:22:13 PM There is no Doubt the Rangers SHUT THEM OUT!!!!!!!
As I said after the first win against the Bs, that point has been proven, no doubt the Blueshirts are the tops, right now. We all know the playoffs are a different animal but for now Rangers fans are being proven right by this team by taking control of the East.
