When the 1973-74 SCFinal began, One Flyers member recalls being a 50 to 1 underdog vs the Big Bad Boston Bruins. Boston won at home in game 1 on a late goal by #4 Bobby Orr... in game 2 the Flyers had to pull Bernie Parent late in the game and put on Andre "Moose" DuPont as the sixth skater... and he tied the game with Flyers Captain Bobby Clarke winning it in OT with the help of Dave "The Hammer" Schultz. The Flyers took games 3 and 4 in Philly giving them a 3-1 series lead going back to Boston.
In game 5 the Bruins crushed the Flyers 5-1 setting up what even the Flyers team considered a MUST WIN game 6 back in Philly.
Despite the ugly loss in game 5 the Flyers held off the Mighty Bruins in game 6 with the help of some stellar goaltending by Bernie Parent who shut out Boston 1-0 to help clinch the Flyers first Stanley Cup.
Coming into these 2012 playoff the Kings barely made it in and had to defeat the # 1, # 2 and # 3 seeded teams in the Western Conference just to make these SCFinals vs New Jersey.
As we know the Kings jumped out to a 3-0 series lead by winning two 2-1 games in OT at New Jersey and winning game 3 in dominate fashion before falling in game 4 at home and game 5 back in the Swamp.
Now... The Kings face a simular situation in this game 6 as did the Flyers in thiers... a MUST WIN home game to clinch the series and win thier first Stanley Cup.
Game 7 is NOT an option... It's Now or Never.

If the Kings had lost the first two games in NJ and then won games 3, 4 and 5 I'd be more concerned because they would be trying to win thier 4th in a row in game 6... but since they lost the last two (which they were both in those games)... I like them to rebound and get 'er done on Monday Night in front of the "HockeyWood" crowd...It's in the script...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know they counted on the scoreboard but the two NJ goal were so rare they would not see two like that again in 500 games... and they got then BOTH in one game.
Marty played well... but face it... the goal post behind him have played well also these last two games.
In game 6... I think the Kings grab a 2-0 first period lead and add 1 more in the 2nd period before adding an ENG late for a 4-0 winner.
Time for Martina Brodeur to "fade into Bolivian" as Mike Tyson once said.

4-0 scoreline is very optimistic considering the series has been ultra tight the whole way with the exception of Game 3. Devils D has improved in every game and I don't see this changing tonight. Kings will have to sweat this out the whole way, but if it does turn into a blowout, I will gladly take that outcome
