Its been a boring series. No hard hits, no animosity, no fighting and defense first.

Im in Brasil and bring friends over to watch the games. Their biggest complaints are that they cant see the puck.  Especially when they shoot from the point and 4 guys are in front of the net. Also when the Cameramen cant keep up with the puck.

Make the net a little bigger ( decreasing the goalie equipment would lead to injuries as these new sticks allow for faster shots ) and find a way to have camera angles that can show the puck all the time.  ( example: For about 20% of the game you cant see the puck cuz the play in on the NEAR BOARDS.) Those of us that have been around the game for a long time know where the puck is, but if you want a global fan base, not being able to see the puck is a big deterent to attracting new fans.

I hate the NBA, but its more enjoyable to the eye to watch the NBA cuz you see the ball and the whole court.

Cheers all!

Here is to seeing a fight between Kopitar and Elias!

do you have HD coverage down there? NO sport has benefited more from HD TV than hockey esp in following the puck. going to be tough to see when there is a big pile up in front of the net BUT in the normal course of play, it VERY visable. also the wider 9X16 screen width allows you to see the plays develope MUCH better than the old 3X4

well you can say that BUT ex for the Penguins vs Flyers "NBA on Ice", WHICH btw had the BEST TV ratings of all the series, MOST of the playoffs this year have been "trap-crap" Soccer on Ice.

SOMETHING needs to be done about scoring OR the sport is going to DIE at least here in the States. Goaltenders aren't going to give up their "steam shovel" trapper or "medieval armor" SO the best MINOR adjustment is the goal size

It's nice to see someone else "get it" in regards to a simple inexpensive solution to solving the lack of scoring problem. The goalies today are so big and wear such bigger equipment, they generally stay in the center of the crease, spread their body armor, and dare someone to find the needle in the haystack to find the back of the net.
You just don't see this anymore

If that's the case, then why has scoring increased every year since the lockout ?

With all due respect to one of the best posters ...We all know that come playoff time, hockey changes back to the trap.  Take a lead heading into the third and watch a whole lot of nothing going on!  Perfect example yesterday. 2-1 in second and game finished 2-1.

2012- 5 games, 5 unders

2011- 5 of 7 games under 5 or less goals

2010-  5 of 6 games over 5 goals....PERFECT!

2009-  5 of 7 games under 5 or less goals

2008- 5 of 6 games under 5 or less goals

2007- 3 of 5 games under 5 or less goals

2006- 5 out 7 games under 5 or less goals

Yesterdays game showed exactly what is lacking in hockey.  Nice goals dont exist anymore. Deeking and individual play doesnt happen like it did in the 80s and like it does on Olympic sized rinks.

Cycle, dump it in, block shots, shoot through traffic and hope for the best.

Both Devils goals were luck last night. Not one beautiful goal.

The Kings goal was a nice shot by a player who got allowed to walk in the slot freely and had a screener passing in front of Brodeur.

Cheers to all!

If your an actual hockey fan you should be able to enjoy this series. Everyone just finds reasons to complain... You don't need more goals to make the game exciting.

NBA is boring because teams score every 20 seconds. How lame and exciting.. In hockey a goal has more value and could be the difference in a game.

Scoring chances make hockey exciting. Not goals. And there were plenty of exciting chances last night. Perhaps you should go watch basketball.

Also, the trap has hardly been used in this series. I usually see a 2-1-2 forecheck by both teams. Not a 1-2-2. It Speaks volumes as to what you know about the game you probably lose money on.

Your right, everyone keeps making that mistake. Devils were a trap team in previous years but this year they changed their style of play.

Eh, trap is all relative.  They are playing the same style as Hitchcock. Which isn't a trap by defination, but still on the same line. All players are backchecking and rotate.   Bottom line is it works for teams that don't have a ton of firepower.  Although, when the Devils want to they can go up and down the ice pretty well.

It's not the same way they used to trap by a longshot.  Before they were waiting for you to make a mistake.  Now they press for a turnover at center ice.  If they get it then all guys charge the zone.  If they don't get the turnover at center ice they will all drop back.

That is why you are one of the best on here!  NO PERSONAL attacks, Just Facts!

I attack and then I regret it, but damn you are so good at keeping it neutral and being right about 90% of the time!

I enjoy any kind of hockey.  Yesterday there were lots of chances if you think shooting from the right and left hash marks are GREAT CHANCES!

Other than the Kings Breakaway, I dont think anyone got left with the goalie 1 on 1 yesterday. I remember Williams and Carter ( Devils ) almost scoring in front of the net but WIlliams had a defender draped all over him and Carter flat out fan on his shot!

And in terms of NBA. My theory has always been. Have them play a 5-6 minute period.  You will find your winner. No need to go up and down for 48 minutes to confirm that the last team with the last Run will win!
