If you want to make the "moral victory" argument, fine, but somehow I doubt Kane and Toews were high fiving everyone on the bus after the game. And as for the "both teams played hard" argument, I don't know, but it doesn't look like the Hawks were playing too damn hard the final 14 minutes of the game.

So for those of you in the 'YES' camp who had the Hawks last night (and using your logic) I want you to call up your sportsbook and explain to them: "Well, Chicago had the lead for most of the game, so shouldn't I at least get some of my money back?" Let us know how that works out.

This is just my opinion:

The NHL was doing just fine when a tie was a tie. 2 points for a win, and 1 for a tie - no OT, and no ugly-behind shootouts!

It made OT in the Stanley Cup Play-offs a very, very exiting and unique event.

What's wrong with overtime in the playoffs now?

Not a thing, depressed!

I was just saying that when you go an entire season without experiencing OT and it gets to the Stanley Cup, and there is so much riding on the outcome, it used to be really something special. That's all! Didn't mean to be negative at all about play-off OTs.

I guess what I really mean, deep down, is that I think if you're going to have OT, then play til someone wins, not just 5 minutes. And, I absolutely HATE shootouts. It's like having a free throw contest to win an NBA game.

That's what I have been saying all along.  If SO's are good enough for regular season, then why not in the Playoffs.

Well we all know why.

The ridiculous thing is they were trying to encourage teams to play all out during OT as opposed to just sitting back and trying to get a 'free' point out of those 5 minutes but what you have now is teams playing defensive hockey in the final 5 minutes of a tie game to try and get to overtime - to get a 'free' point!

Take away that 'free' point and I guarantee teams go all out.

hugh613 - I'm not sure if I agree or not, but you definitely bring up a good point. I believe hockey is the only sport where you are awarded something for an OT loss. In everything else, if you lose, you lose!!!

I would have to say high and expensive ticket prices plus players signing long term contracts from ten years and longer that's what I dislike

I would also blame the front office and the ownwership of struggling franchises in non hockey markets plus the players union having their staff either resign or get fired because of certain issues

Blame the Commissioner darn right Gary Betman and deputy Bill Daly for ignoring Canadian markets who really know hockey more then those southern U.S. markets etc.

I wouldn't say say much but the game is fast and competitive that's a good thing but the debates on fighting is not what I want to hear so put that away and stop your complaining and the headshot should be in effect

You can't have play till you win OT in the regular season when teams have to play the next night in a different city. It would be suicide for the players. I'm not a big fan of the shootout but it does bring some excitement for the crowd. Before it comes to that they should play 5 min of 4 on 4 then 5 min of 3 on 3 and if it isn't settled after that proceed with a shootout.

I personally like this 2-1-0 system. Makes teams EARN the pts the old fasion way, winning while actually playing hockey, not waiting for penality shots knowing you already have one pt in the bag. Good Idea.
