#1 Posted: 4/13/2012 1:22:20 PM I'm gonna do some research and my goal is to own one within a year. Gotta pay some bills off first. Then I'm gonna tell these oil companies to darn off.
What do own? How long have you had it? Would you recommend it?
Thanks in advance. |

#2 Posted: 4/13/2012 1:37:40 PM The only one I would consider is the Leaf, but it is too low to the ground, maybe at some point they will make a small SUV electric..that would sell much better.
The price is also too high, you can equip a house with a full solar system for less than the cost of a car, and that system can save you 300 bucks a month if done right.

#4 Posted: 4/13/2012 2:23:54 PM just get a Honda Civic or something else with decent gas mileage if that's what you're worried about
electric vehicles have a very limited range and are expensive |

It's always the price tag. I used to be fascinated by these cars then you read the price tag. These days i look at the price then decide if I wanna read further. Then i see if the car has any balls for its price. Defeats the whole purpose of designing a car if the price tag doesn't make it practical. Then the cheaper ones have no balls - how fun could that be to drive ?

#9 Posted: 4/13/2012 4:40:23 PM Also look at long term costs.
Before you buy an electric car find out from the dealer what the cost of an electric battery is, to include installation. AND the disposal cost of the old battery. Also keep in mind that the salesman is NOT the person to ask about how long the batteries last. We all know a car salesman would NEVER would lie and add few years to the average life of the batteries...

#10 Posted: 4/13/2012 5:29:54 PM I actually started riding the bus to work. I know, I know. I'm not the "cool guy" but I tell you what, at 4 bucks a gallon ... if the bus stop is right next to my house and the bus stop is right next to my work, why the hell not? |

Actually you are the cool guy and the smart guy.
I penciled it out to and from the gym on the bus because I have a 4x4. No value. |
