• After the FedEx Cup regular season ends in August 2013, the tour will take the top 75 players from the Nationwide Tour money list, along with the players who finished No. 126 through 200 on the PGA Tour money list, and have them play three tournaments. The top 50 will receive PGA Tour cards for the following season.

Typical response from you AJ perhaps you are the one that does not understand this is all about TV ratings and is not being very well received by PGA tour players that have worked very hard to maintain their status and now may be effected by a random decision meant to focus tv coverage only.A playoff between the tours is not the issue its the issuing of the tour cards against reduced tour school grads that is the issue and protection for veterens that have already given much to the PGA tour where will they fit into this new senario.

It has always been tour school was a players fall back this will change and is the problem. If you were a tour player with a family that had been on tour 15 years and were ranked 129 perhaps your attitude may be different when some hotshot out of college that has paid no dues as far as time on tour, sponsorships, tour promotion was trying to take your job. Just being a pro on the PGA tour and representing the image requires is a lot of work and should not be taken lightly and dismissed it is disrespectful to those that have paved the way for them and demeans the profession in general.

Well of course TV ratings influenced this change. DUH! TV ratings rule the sporting world. This also has alot to do with Nationwide's sponsorship coming to an end. They needed to spice things up to lure in a new sponsor.
Protection for veterans??? If you can't make the top 125, why do require protection?
Anyway, to each his own. I think the change is cool as shit and look forward to the three tournament playoff.

If you finish below the top 125 you still had to go to qualifying school in the past and compete on an equal level with ANY other player trying to qualify now the change means that the field(top 50) from the nationwide now exempt into the playoff skipping the 1st stage which previously they had to complete only PGA tour players got to skip 1st stage of Q school. The top 14 on the Nationwide skipped stage 1 and all PGA tour card holders.
The three tournament playoff becomes an exclusive group that essentially is using up the Q school spots. Why not leave it non exclusive as it was? Why limmit the playing field and give any advantage to Nationwide's top 50 or in reality those 16-50 because top 14 already had the advantage

Changes to PGA Tour Q-school will shut out deserving players (SI.com | Mar 22/12)
I can't post this as a link for some reason but it is on cover's golf wire and is a much better explanation than mine as to why some(myself included) feel this new policy is unfair.

I haven't researched this more, but which courses will be used for the tournament?
It's probably unavoidable, but I would hate for someone to get hot on their home course. There are courses that suite some golfers better than others. Player may be more "comfortable" at a course.
I'd also think that a pro that played the course 5 or 6 times, will have an edge over someone that has only played a practice round.
One example that comes to mind is Russel Henley beating a Nationwide tour field on his home course at the University of Georgia.

Golf is headed in the wrong direction and this is one example of many. PGA just wants to elevate the nationwide and make $$$$$$$

Well AJ I figured you would understand why I dont like it. YOu should have an idea anyway.
The only thing that could be good with this is that the NAtionwide tour will have more money and also look for the PGA Tour to but a 3rd level tour (Maybe even have 4 levels) That would also help mini tour golf to have guaranteed purses and so on. The problem is now it will take minimum 1 year after getting thru tour school. Look for Jordan Spieth to turn pro this year as I promise he doesnt want to have to paly a year on the Nationwide tour
