this is brutal for the NBA...just more embarashment after a horrible lockout. This isnt on Stern imo. Stern speaks for the owners and does what the owners tell him to do. This is on the small market teams that cant get trades and players to come to their teams putting a stop on so called fantasy teams.

This is an letter/email from Dan Gilbert owner of the cavs to david stern about this issue. was release on yahoo sports.

It would be a travesty to allow the Lakers to acquire Chris Paul in the apparent trade being discussed...

I cannot remember ever seeing a trade where a team got by far the best player in the trade and saved over $40 million in the process. And it doesn’t appear that they would give up any draft picks, which might allow to later make a trade for Dwight Howard. When the Lakers got Pau Gasol (at the time considered an extremely lopsided trade) they took on tens of millions in additional salary and luxury tax and they gave up a number of prospects (one in Marc Gasol who may become a max-salary player).

I just don’t see how we can allow this trade to happen.

I know the vast majority of owners feel the same way that I do.

When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Why not get rid of teams? If all these small market teams are so anal that they won't ever be good, why not get rid of teams? League is not making any money and the NBA always tries to rig the NBA finals to whom they want in it.

Get rid of 8 teams and you won't have to be voiding these trades. All teams would have 2-3 superstars.

Don't think they would eliminate that many teams.

They just had a CBA about issues and theirs already problems here. I think David Stern is going to be hung out real soon and a new commish is going to come in. They have a soft cap when they should have hard cap if they dont want these so called super teams forming.

Having a team owned by the league is big conflict of intrest here. You have a guy in Del Demps that you gave him power to make deals for this team and then you go pull back on it....makes no sense. Makes you wounder if they want certain players to land in certain places. We all kno the NBA is shady when it comes to the outcomes, if you say otherwise then you obviously havent put money on a game and watched it.

I love the sport of basketball, will always play it, but the NBA is losing fans of the game here with shadyness.

College Basketball is getting and will continue to get my attention this season.

This is like vetoing a trade in your fantasy league because it makes both teams better.

NBA needs Stern to retire
