#26 Posted: 10/6/2012 6:15:59 AM And as far as the Nascar arguement more people bet on that then hockey .Those hillbilly Nascar freaks dont even know what a puck is ,Im not saying its right but its true,.If the sport was supported by Gamblers it wouldnt fold. We all know that the backbone of all popular sports goes hand in hand with gambling /Look what happened with the NFL refs The day after a bad call in the Packer game that reportedly had a 50 million dollar swing from one side to another the strike was settled .That was one game ,in NFL .There isnt that much money spent all season on hockey betting |

#28 Posted: 10/19/2012 7:09:42 PM Players union now appears to be ready to go broke trying to hold billionaire owners hostage to their own demands.Fehr will still get paid, while players and owners lose respect and credibility by the day.Problem will that strategy is that the billionaire owners have the money to ride out the millionaire players. |

35 million don't watch hockey in Canada...Not even 10% watch hockey on consistent basis.
HNIC is barely making any profit.
300 million > 35 million
Canada is becoming a huge 3rd world filth hole anyway so future numbers will only go down not up. Like all these asians/arabs/pakis/indians/etc. care about hockey....lol
Different story when Europeans were the ones coming in.
Paying bums like parise/suter/myers/erhoff/richards/etc. over 10 million. Seriously a joke.

Ya if it's anything like here in the States, all them "fereners" are busy starting a small business, doing engineering for Microsoft and other tech companies or working as doctors and really don't have TIME for hockey or other spectator sports. |

#38 Posted: 10/27/2012 3:03:31 PM Actually Rat asians and east indians are as Canadian as I am and have embraced many of our past times such as collecting welfare, selling drugs, binge drinking, fast food and hockey. It's only a matter of time before the Penguins have a few players named Singh and Buttar on there roster....I wonder if they will be allowed to wear their turbans on the ice instead of a helmet,,this is actually the case if they have a motorcycle license. |

#49 Posted: 11/7/2012 1:51:13 PM Talks have resumed in N.Y. with player union reps saying they don't want to absorb the majority of the concessions this time after the NHL recorded record revenue that exceeded $3 billion last season. |

#50 Posted: 11/9/2012 1:48:59 AM I don't see how the NHL will survive this lockout. There is real apathy out there despite what the naysayers in the media will have you believe. The allure of the NHL was the hard nose blue collar image. The players have come out looking like fools. Shane Doan is just absurd. Their getting the same respect as NBA players now. Problem is no giant tv contract to save them. Hockey's gate business will plummet |
