#1 Posted: 4/25/2012 10:46:17 PM Paynter Word is that he has even more talent than Bodemeister. He was his maiden in impressive fashion and ran a decent fourth in the SA Derby. Playing large against a lackluster fiend of 10 others.

#3 Posted: 4/28/2012 3:20:22 PM Uhh Rouser, the whole field is lackluster!
Why the hell would you take 2-1 M/L on a maiden winner? I'm not saying he can't win but look beyond the chalk in these " I'm not good enough to go to the Derby fields".
Now ask yourself this, why not take a flyer on a graded stakes placed runner with better odds? These are 2nd-3rd tier 3 yr. olds at the moment.
I believe it's best to pass the race altogether but there are two steeds entered here that have cashed a check in a graded race!
#6 Quick Wit 12/1 and #10 Motor City 15/1 on the M/L. Hell, Motor City even won a grade 3 at this distance and at this track!
Not saying you are wrong just ask for some GD value!

#5 Posted: 4/28/2012 4:18:31 PM I heard that he is the best 3 year old in the Baffert barn, but had some maturity issues. Ran a hell of a race last out after a bad start in the SA Derby.

#9 Posted: 4/28/2012 9:46:44 PM How about #3 Saint of Saints. Romans does a good job with logically progressing his horses, so maybe this is a spot for this one.

#12 Posted: 4/29/2012 1:01:43 AM Hierro was primed for that race on the sheets. Add a red hot Leparoux in the mix and 5-1 was gravy.
Garcia terrible ride IMO. He got to work way too early on Paynter, it was clear after the storm the track was favoring horses off the pace after being totally speed biased in the first couple races. No wonder Baffert is using him less and less.

So true. Garcia is 3 rate now, but no excuses.
