Now it's official. The region - Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties
- lost 27,400 residents between 2008 and 2009, while Florida as a whole
lost 58,000. That's not exactly a mass exodus for a state of 18
million; but it's the first net outflow in 63 years for a state that
considers itself the new California. "It's difficult for the working
middle class to justify living here," Mike Jones, president of the Palm Beach County Economic Council, conceded to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. "As much as they may love the sunshine, as you squeeze them out, they may find it in their best interests to move."
Brilliant! Raise the taxes on your taxbase to the point where you lose your taxbase

I've headached long enough as to why people 'don't get it'. Will still be prepared to help others but it's time to worry about number one (and my closest). The market for physical metals went wacko yest., are you still vested in SLV? My savings is in physical silver, eagles for the most part, and have bought a couple other novelty items (so long as they are .999 silver and i'm not paying some crazy spot+ premium). Had a couple sheckles in paypal so decided to see what ebay had to offer and i snagged a couple palatable deals last week,,,,was looking on there yest after i saw metals starting to rocket and wow  people were paying over 20+$'s for silver eagles to be shipped to them from ebay . Going to my local shop shortly,,,,,,,wanted to get an oz. or 2 of gold coins but prices got screwy once, well, prices took off. undertandably so.

i would rather buy 5 lb bags of rice from costco than gold or silver bars to have them sit in my basement.
house closing in nov. thx for the
my only justification for buying this now (outside of the 'happy wife, happy life mantra') is to be long something other than us dollars and be able to get usage out of it. if the system does go boom in the next few years...i have a house and not a savings account which will be worthless

I read recently that over 1 million of the 11 million population,
has made the 90mi trip via homemade rafts and anything else that will float. Castro must be doin' a Great Job, and BHO would like the same. |

metals have never gone to zero
when the garbage hits the fan, and it comes time to trade the metal in, it wont be for federal reserve notes
thats easy for me to say when there are fields of wheat surrounding me  |

#10 Posted: 9/9/2009 11:16:27 AM I don't mind paying taxes, as long as it is being used wisely {not health care for illegal immigrants, aid to countries that would not piss on us if we were on fire, etc} I also can not argue having silver/gold if a depression were to actually hit.But, personally i would rather have resources to feed + help protect me + mine if things do go to hell {tractor,fuel, guns + ammo, fruit orchard, well water, etc} And by no means am i a survivalist, i am just not sure what stacks of silver eagles would do to get you through those times. But what the hell do i know... |

#14 Posted: 9/9/2009 1:34:30 PM good thread......I live in Broward county......At the peak of the market, our house was worth about $425,000 and my property taxes were $2,600 and home owners insurance was $2,400......According to zillow.com, my house is now worth about $232,000 and my property taxes are $2,500 (keep in mind that the homestead exemption was doubled from 25k to 50k) and my home owners insurance is $3,400....we made no claims with any of the storms that we had from 2004 through 2006......you do the math
BeEasy mentioned the rediculous wind-storm insurance coverage....you think that's rediculous, you should see what the deductible is if I did need to make a claim

I wouldn't doubt this to be true as I remember days that we went offshore dolphin fishing hoping to find an abandoned raft because the dolphin would be all over the place underneath them.....now days, we have more of a problem with Haitians than Cubans...However, the Cubans get to stay if they set foot on dry land, but all the Haitians that step foot on land are sent back home. |
