JoeKool

I am doing it now.
Intensive workout divided in 3 phases with different exercises each day.
There is also a suggested diet with the program.

I would highly recommend it however like every other intensive body work the first thing you need to set straight is your mind.
Would you be committed to workout 1h30 each day per 90 days?
Would you be committed to throw junk food and eat healthy for 90 days? This didn't really touch me as I always did eat well but I know most of us enjoy some junk once in a while...

It could seem like an easy yes at the beginning but the first 3 weeks will destroy you and you will want to quit... I assure you.

Anyway, I am on phase 2 now, Day 45 and things are picking up, I almost doubled the amount of pushups and pullups I did at the beginning and my heart rate is way below what it used to be during the day, so yes it works but you really need to be committed...

TennisCapper,

Thanks for the info, buddy.

I'm been going to the gym for a few years, about 5 days per week/about an hour and a half a day doing a body part or 2 a day with cardio for about 30-45 minutes. I'm in decent shape. I eat pretty good for the most part. I'm not totally satisfied with the results I've gotten so thought I might change it up and try the P90X for a more intense workout and give my muscles a change from the normal routine I've been doing.

Sounds like the P90X is geared more toward lean muscle, cardio and intensity which is what I'm looking for. I just need to check into the price because I'm not sure if everything is included in the price they show or you have to pay more for additional items.

Good luck with your workouts. Sounds like your doing real good, keep it up.

+1 for P90X.

I just started last week. I will let you know how it goes. You can find this workout for 1/2 the price or less on craigslist like I did. You can also get it free if you look on a torrent site but I didn't do that.

As people have noted in other threads diet is a huge part of this program and mine is good but I have at least 2 meals a week where I will house a large pizza or a cheeseburger or 2. I know this isn't recommended but those are my present eating habits. As they say in the literature, you will still get in shape you just won't look it (as much).

P90X can be an arse kicker. (Even the the Yoga!)  I suggest to anyone that you are at least in decent shape before you start.  P90 relys on muscle confusion as should any good workout program.  If you are serious and stick with it...you will get into great shape.

Thanks for the heads up on Craigslist. Checked it out and yeah, saw some for half price....

All the sets include the DVD's, guides and calendar. Just wondering. What accessories would I need to buy? I already have a pullup bar that I can do pullups, chinups, pushups and situps with. If I buy the resistance bands, is that all I would need?

Absolutely agree here.

Funny you mention Yoga because flexibility has never been my thing and I have never done Yoga. To make a long story short, Day 4 of Week 1 was Yoga and I really thought I was going to die...
Possibly the worst 1h30 minutes I have ever spent working out...

But it's getting better, on downward dog I now can have my heels to the ground

Believe me it's worth the investement. I started it this time last year, and kicked my behind the first couple of weeks. Its funny you think your in pretty decent shape until you do P90X. Now I am in the best shape i've ever been in better then in highschool and I was very involved in sports, now i'm 37. On the second phase of the workout INTENSE. Anyway enough said, highly recommend it.

A++++

Oh, and also get the dumbells that you can have multipe weight selections in one, like what bowflex offers, but you can find for half the price. If you have a play it again sports in fla that's where you should go, that's where I got everything I needed at half the cost.Used of course for some of it but looks brand new.

Well, by Sundays I mean Day 7, 14, 21 etc...
Assuming you start the program on a Monday, the day off is Sunday

Alright, I'm starting the program Monday, February 1st.

Thanks for everyone's input.

Going to Vegas April 24th-30th so I need to finish the 90 days of phase 1 by this time. Hopefully, I can do 2 a days or do it 7 days/week to finish it a week ahead of time.

Do you guys have any more details on the diet?  I have limited cooking skills and am curious what I would have to make.

I am 43 and am 4 weeks into my second go around. After 90 days I lost 20 lbs and was in the best shape since my football days. The nice thing is that if you can stick it out and make the full commitment you will more than likely be making lasting changes in your life style. Heck you will have worked too dang hard to want to give back any results. I consider myself an average joe as far as athletic ability and some of the results have been really cool. When I started I was doing 15-20 pushups and 4-5 pull-ups, at the end of 90 days I was up to 30-50 push-ups and 12-16 pull-ups per set. Course as mentioned earlier, Yoga still sucks!!!!! But you will find you have your strengths and weaknesses. GL
