#26 Posted: 7/1/2012 6:13:11 AM I can acknowlege a good team when I see one. Rationalizing why the Giants didn't deserve to win the title is lame. Poor regular season and divisional record, benefitting from competition injuries, got hot at the right time, opponents miscues, luck, fixes, etc..... are just excuses to avoid accepting the truth.
Of course they aren't one of the greatest SB champs of all time but good teams win big games. Don't let the almighty dollar and bias blind you into thinking that the Giants can't have a respectable 2012 campaign. |

Because they had an incredibly lucky run to the superbowl, starting with the fact that they wouldn't have even made the playoffs if Jason Garrett hadn't iced his own kicker against the cardinals and every fumbled ball seemingly bounced their way.
Almost every NFL champion has luck along the way, but the giants had more than their fair share of it.

#30 Posted: 7/10/2012 10:07:38 AM It's like Daniel Tosh said...
"Yes, a team who got swept by the Redskins, embarrassed by the Seahawks at home, had a 4 game losing streak in the middle of the season (including a loss at home to Vince Young), was CLEARLY the best team in the NFL."
And yeah, Eli Manning is SO good because he averaged about 20 points a game in the postseason...gee what an incredible player. The defense won the super bowl for them again and Eli made a couple of clutch passes.
This team will be lucky to win 7 games this year

#31 Posted: 7/10/2012 10:08:49 AM Eli threw 2 passes that were so bad that the 49er players actually ran into each other while fighting for the ball and dropped it. Then the refs blew the whistle early in OT when the Giants fumbled.
If that's not lucky, I don't know what is.

#32 Posted: 7/10/2012 10:30:35 AM its not like the other sports were you have to win a mutiple of games and series . the best team usually don't win , giants 9-7 lose to washington twice and just about beaten by san fran but for one players blunders
, PATS didnt beat a team over 500 in regular season lucky to havve faced Denver in first game and having the Ravens out play them should have lost if not evans drop
the NFL playoff stucture sucks you dont have to be great to win a super bowl you don't even have to be good to have a chance , look at ARIZONA acouple of years back an 8-8 team that was 2 minutes away from winning it
it luck you only have to win 3 or 4 games to win the super bowl
get rid of pre season and 2 games of regular season and have 2 out of 3 series in champ game and super bowl to make super bowl legit, and playoffs more exicting . |

There will always be wildcards cause it's the only fair way to give underacheiving teams a reason to play hard and keep games interesting. IMO, that Cards/Steelers SB was as good as it gets.
"it luck you only have to win 3 or 4 games to win the super bowl"
That makes very little sense.
"get rid of pre season and 2 games of regular season and have 2 out of 3 series in champ game and super bowl to make super bowl legit, and playoffs more exicting."
How do you expect teams to evaluate and prepare their newer players? If a team is really great, they shouldn't need more than 1 game to settle a conference championship or SB. Get real dude. |

#34 Posted: 7/10/2012 9:43:25 PM the fact that it's so hard to repeat, the parity in the league. gotta be 8-10 teams that "could" win pretty much every year. their schedule doesn't look brutal, but EVERY team is gunnin for the defending champs. i like the giants to win their division, but who knows. they should still have a decent team on the field this year imo. |

#35 Posted: 7/10/2012 10:09:28 PM As metalbill said, its real hard to repeat, and there is so much luck involved in football that most fans and gamblers delusionally deny. It could have just as easily been a ravens-49ers superbowl if a couple plays of inches went the other way or if a fumbled ball bounced in the opposite direction. For a team to repeat, they must have some good luck, but also be great enough to overcome bad luck and bad bounces.... repeat champions in pro football are truly great teams and there is a reason why its so rare |

I guess the Giants making plays had nothing to do with it Jason Garret icing the kicker
So, if the Pats won SB ,,they would have been lucky because Cundif missed a chip shot.......
The giants made plays.....If all Giants post season opponents were up 2-3 scores late,, 1-2 ( Lucky )or ( Made) plays would not have determined the game... End of story...

Since you forgot, they were the best team in the NFL that year until Plaxico shot himself leaving Domik Hixon as the #1 WR. That was the year the Giants went into Pittsburgh and roughed up the Steelers, |

Eli is in his prime is and is a TOP QB in the NFL, Giants offensive just got way more explosive with the rookie David Wilson, defense is coming back, Giants will be making the playoffs and it doesn't matter what seed. I like their chances, espcially with Eli at the helm. |

#43 Posted: 7/15/2012 8:46:22 AM If I were to gamble on a super bowl future. I would bet on 2 teams in the NFC and 2 teams on the AFC.
AFC: Ravens Steelers
NFC: Giants Packers |

#46 Posted: 10/14/2012 7:11:36 PM beat the garbage out of the 49ers today, and little by little we are adding Wilson into the offensive mix which will make us very explosive on offense. |
