#1 Posted: 7/26/2012 4:02:52 PM I am really liking what they are doing this off season
with the addition of Semin and Jordan Staal
anybody think they can make a run in the east?
Semin and the Staal brothers aren't a bad 3 some to get the party start
I would think any type of run would hinder on whether or not Cam Ward returns to his old form from a couple seasons ago.
Thoughts?
Disclaimer - I think they are still a few pieces away from being a serious threat, but I do like what they are doing so far this off season.

#4 Posted: 7/26/2012 11:44:08 PM Wait for them to sink a bit during the season but keep them as a card in your back pocket.. They could be one of those teams like Florida last year.. |

#7 Posted: 8/1/2012 11:59:16 AM Canes need to get past Pitt, Rangers, Philly, Bruins
It will be tough Semin is a good pu but other teams got stronger too. Canes maybe #7 The NHL is tough to pick. Staal Bros. are not the Sedins The Wonder Twins are a Freak of nature, they don't even look at each other when offering up a saucer pass... |

#10 Posted: 8/2/2012 1:55:26 AM I figure the Canes season will hinge on the development of some of their younger players.
Unless one of Justin Faulk, Ryan Murphy, or Bobby Sanguinetti are NHL ready, all of the offence on the back end will have to come from Joe Corvo who's getting up there in age.
They also need Jeff Skinner to have a rebound season or the depth up front will be a bit thin. It would definitely help if Boychuk panned out, but it's not looking too promising. |

#11 Posted: 8/2/2012 2:02:24 AM Faulk had a decent rookie season in the NHL, just not sure he's ready to be a top pairing offensive defenceman.

#12 Posted: 8/5/2012 1:41:12 PM Just depends on how everyone will mesh. But the low profile, players have in Carolina should be huge for players like Semin. No real outside distractions like other "hockey towns"
Canes will be in the playoffs, just a matter of what seed. Probably 6th or 7th. |
