This means nothing. Just ask Dungy's kid. For all practical purposes, he was a happy go lucky, God fearing student with everything going for him.
I was listening to an interview with a former Viking linebacker today. He said it's quite an adjustment going from always being in the spot light to living a "typical" life. When you are playing, you have a support staff around you. The minute you mention something, you're off to get an MRI or be examined. People take care of you.
When you retire, all that goes away. I don't know if he was involved in any businesses or other hobbies, but I'm guessing it would get awfully lonely / difficult to just sit around in your big house. He was divorced....didn't have custody of his kids. Maybe he was a lot more worse off than people ever knew (mentally.....in terms of happiness with his life). You just don't know. Could also have been a brain related issue (ie. due to the continuous pounding he took as a player). I just hope they find some clues as to what exactly happened and why it did.

#8 Posted: 5/3/2012 1:31:07 PM They must know something to have lead with suicide as the cause. No need for them to assume that unless they were fairly certain. |

Dave Duerson did.

___________
They said they were investigating it as a suicide. I'm sure that was decided based on what they saw at the scene initially. But we all know that could change depending on what the evidence says. Very similar to Zimmerman. His case was originally looked at as a case of self defense. Now they have filed 2nd degree murder charges. I'd say their initial determination is right more than it's wrong, but you never know. |

#19 Posted: 5/5/2012 1:13:49 AM They can tell easily how far the gun was from him when he was shot. If someone was going to kill this man they'd obviously do it from far away. My guess is they determined very quickly he inflicted the damage on himself (which would likely be quite obvious).
Sad story and a sad ending. He has a Mother/Father and 3 kids. |

pretty open and shut case it seems, heard the 911 call from the gf, she would have had to be the best actress in the world if she did it...far from the boxer's wife with gatti who died. |

#24 Posted: 5/8/2012 5:20:03 PM You're kidding, right?
Your girlfiend walks up to you with a shotgun and puts it to your chest, are you telling me you don't make any move whatsoever? |

He did have domestics in the past but no one really knows except for whoever pulled the trigger.
