Fresno State is a poor rebounding team (-4 per game) that was outrebounded by Hawaii last month 32-40. On Thursday, Hawaii got killed on the boards against Nevada, to the point of complete embarrassment. With about 4 minutes left in the game, Nevada had as many Offensive rebounds (17) as Hawaii had total.
No doubt, Coach Gib Arnold for Hawaii will be addressing this tonite against Fresno State. Hawaii is a very good rebounding team (+3 per game) led by the #1 and #2 rebounders in the WAC, Vander Juoquim and Joston Thomas. Hawaii should have another 40-32 rebounding edge or more tonite.
Hawaii PF Joston Thomas and his immaturity got the best of him after winning the WAC Player of the week, he responded with a game high 6 Turnovers and just 2 rebounds. The roller coaster ride that he is,expect him to put forth a much stronger, and less turnover driven effort tonite.
Hawaii SG and leading scorer Zane Johnson (15.4ppg) is coming off a terrible game against Nevada, just 2 for 13 for 9 points. I guarantee he will have more than 2 baskets tonite.
This is Fresno's second in back to back road games.
Hawaii's PF Trevor Wiseman has been REINSTATED today. He refused to go into the game against SJS last week and was an inch away from being kicked off permanently. By all accounts he is a super good kid and well liked by his teammates; just was very upset he lost playing time to Hauns Brereton. Hauns Brereton has been getting the start the the last 4 games and has responded big time with 15PPG. Wiseman, is no where near the offensive player Hauns is, so I like this move. However, Wiseman is a hustle player and very good rebounder, his absence was sorely missed against Nevada and he will provide much needed depth. Per news reports, Wiseman made a very emotional apology to the Coach and Team yesterday. There is nothing like a little healing and TLC to mend a team....
I would be very, very surprised if an undersized Fresno team can come down to Hawaii and get a win against a pretty pissed off Hawaii team.
Hawaii -5 660 to win 600
As always, cap for yourself, ride or fade, just win money.
