I know this is a Vegas forum, but I don't know where else to ask.  I want to take my girl to Atlantic City...neither one of us has been.  Looking to my fellow covers members for some tips on good places to stay, eat...best casinos...pretty much the best way to do Atlantic City.

Thanks guys!

The Marina district (off the boardwalk) is the nicest section in as much you need a car to get there..less low-lifes camping out in the casinos on the boardwalk.Of the three casinos there,Borgata is the best, followed by Harrahs and then the newly renovated Golden Nugget..

Harrahs has the Pool with DJ's at night and celeb appearances if you're into that..If you both want to see the historic boardwalk-do it in daylight via a free shuttle for harrah's guests to thier other props on the boardwalk= Caesars/Bally's/Showboat.You may have heard of the newest casino just north of the Showboat,(Revel) but it seems they want to come off as more of a spa/resort,not a casino and they do not even have a racebook. They are losing money while the Borgata keeps on keeping on..and Harrahs stepped up past years to compete..

If you have any CET comps/card I'd stay at Harrahs and gamble at the Borgata..Both places have nice sit-down restaurants and also food courts..if you guys are drinkers and need packaged beer wine etc, just over the bridge from Harrah's is Brigantine..Make a right at the first light you come to and behind the BK in a strip mall is St Georges Pub,nice little locals place.

Not sure what gambling you do,if it's horses, the Borgata book is very nice and drink tix-well you never use them all..Video Poker is also better there as Harrahs just sucks at the bartop level now (10 units for Royal Bonus, pays 2 g's but $2.50 a spin at quarters).Table games,3/2 BJ is tough to find at Harrahs but there are some $15 tables. Not sure about the Nugget, but can't be worse.

Hope this helps a bit, have a nice trip..and NJ Shore is just beautiful in the fall.

We've been to Vegas...never been to Atlantic City.  That's pretty much the only reason...new place, new experience.

Thought you were making a joke, comparing LV to AC..

No AC/NJ does not have palm trees..though several years ago some beachside bar/restaurant did plant some, they survived the summer but not much longer.

Yeah, but on the internet there are some stories of hotels planting them every year.  Plus the winters aren't so cold over there anymore.  Some say palm trees could survive year-round.

I love Atlantic City.  If youve ever been to a beach town, you know you always frequent the boardwalk.  Just picture a classic boardwalk in a beachtown, then add mega casino resorts to them.

Borgata is definitely the class of the city, that place could exist on the Vegas strip and be considered one of the top casinos on the strip.  Havent been to the Revel yet so i cant speak for it.  A lot of the casinos on the boardwalk are run down however, the best one is probably the Tropicana or Caesars.  Borgata and Harrahs are both gorgeous, but they are away from the Boardwalk.  Its kind of like Atlantic Citys version of the Strip and Downtown, two different districts of the city.

Atlantic city is a dump unless your serious about poker then Borgata is the way to go.  Other than that there is no reason to go down there.  It is so shitty and does not compare to vegas in any way shape or form.

Stay at Ceasar's.

Right in the middle of everything on boardwalk. Great restaurants, don't even have to go outside if you don't want to.

If you are a player in Vegas at any Harrah's property you can easily get free/discounted rooms there.

I went to AC this past weekend. I must admit it is getting worse every time I visit. One thing about AC that is excellent is the sea food restaurants. It's not a far walk from the main boardwalk, about 10 minutes to a few gems. Last weekend when I  was walking during the day I had groups of people following me. Luckily I got to the restaurant just before I sensed they were going to pounce.

I also had people come up to my car, ask for change, (standard) but when I said no one guy threw an empty beer can at my car. The bums and degenerates seem more hostile. Inside the casino there was also a completely naked man in the washroom having a bird bath in the sink.

I saw no police anywhere. Usually they are near the boardwalk, but zero this time.

I usually go for poker tournaments and the food. I must say I will not be going back anymore. When you have to limit yourself to 5% of the city, and stay within a small boundry to feel safe, it's not worth it.

Too bad the city was left to rot.

Borgata. Keeps you outta trouble, the inner city/boardwalk can be rough as previously noted. Revel is also very nice, but on the boardwalk.
