I see everyone jumping on the Rays today because of lineups. Let's remove the names from the lineups and look at the numbers.

The starting lineup for the Sox is a combined 72 for 219 this spring for a .329 average and their starting pitcher has tossed 7 2/3 innings with a 2.35 era.

The starting lineup for the Rays is a combined 86 for 385 this spring for a .223 average. Their starting pitcher today has tossed 18 1/3 innings with a 4.91 era.

The books didn't make a random line here. I have seen several comments already as to how the Sox can be favored today with this lineup but the numbers don't lie.

It's just one game so anything can happen but I lean to the Sox.

I will pop in from time to time but it's easier to chirp my plays regularly from the IPad and it's a lot less hassle. LOL

I wish I would have seen your thread earlier, would have saved me some money, because I so didn't want to take the Drays simply because it's spring training and I was on the Red Sox a couple of days ago when they were supposedly playing a Blue Jays double A lineup and we all know how that turned out. But the bottom line, betting on Spring Training games is seriously like a hand of black jack. These are games where managers and players can really care less about the outcome and even more so are anxious to get the season started. We see a lineup and Longoria might say " Today I'm just gonna work on my 2 strike hitting and get himself in a hole and try and battle" But great write up. This write up wouldn't have got me on the Red Sox, but most certainly would have got me off the Drays. And another thing I might add. With these lineups. Who do you think plays harder and more focused? The scrubs trying to make a team? Or the Starters that already know the are on the team? But still I ignored all that and took the Drays. Even if the Drays win, still wasn't good money management. Can anyone really ever justify betting on games that are meaningless and we have no idea of the game plan as a wise idea to be betting on?

Gamehunter, I've been a long time follower, I love reading your insight and daily plays. Where will you be posting picks this season? Also do you have any season over/under's for wins this year?

Guys like Jack Smack just don't understand capping baseball. Your goal is to find spots that hold value or where you think you have an advantage. It's similar to horse racing. You may find a horse you like where you see a statistical edge or value. If that horse is even money, it may not be worth it. If that horse is 10-1, it may have tremendous value. Even if it loses, it doesn't mean it was a bad bet as you know making that bet over a long period of time will produce a nice profit. However, in any single race or single game, anything can happen. Yesterday ended up as a push. No harm but there were a lot of reasons to like the Red Sox and be against the betting public. As was mentioned by an intelligent poster above, it's spring training and often anything goes and it's unpredictable. Stop getting caught up in what happens. In any given day or week. It's a 162 game marathon and not a one day sprint. For those who asked, I will pop in here from time to time but plan to "chirp" my plays daily and info can be found on my homepage here.

My apologies I do understand, just got upset. Boston was minus130 at my book though, were they a underdog earlier in the line process?
