#176 Posted: 5/1/2012 8:27:44 PM Next Saturday they have changed the starting time of the footie in Adelaide so footie fans can still see her race. Racing people loved Makybe Diva, Kingston Town & Gunsynd (and Phar Lap & Bernborough but before my time) but the whole nation loves Nelly! |

#177 Posted: 5/14/2012 9:41:20 PM Black Caviar does it again. Win number 21 and looked like a leisurely track gallop. Off to Ascot next to show the Poms how good she is! |

#178 Posted: 5/21/2012 7:35:14 AM She is the best sprinter i have seen but i wouldn't have her at the top of Australian/NZ racehorses, The unbeaten streak is mighty impressive but the the quality of field is suspect.
Makybe diva and Sunline were both better mares

Hard to say when the Diva was a stayer and Sunline was a middle distance horse.
BC can only beat what's in front of her, and she has beaten everything. Hay List is no mug and he's had multiple shots at her and can't beat her. In fact, Hay List wou;d probably win abroad. |

#181 Posted: 6/16/2012 8:26:14 PM Landed safe and sound and apparently all going to plan. Only dropped 9 kilo on the trip and has put that back on. Lets hope she gets a half decent track to show the rest of the world how good us Aussies already know she is.
Go get em girl! |

#187 Posted: 6/23/2012 11:07:33 AM Holy crap, she obviously wasn't at her best but still should have won by half a length. Jockey didnt hit her with the whip then eased her down 50 out!!
Makes for a better story i guess lol |

Neither did Luke Nolen, he just pulled her up too soon and almost resulted in her loss |

#191 Posted: 6/23/2012 1:58:05 PM a win's a win but the story will be more about the jockey than the horse now and it would have been nice anyway for the horse to be ridden out to try and win with authority |

#192 Posted: 6/23/2012 3:03:14 PM What was that win worth to the bettors? I'd guess about 20 cents or less.
Yeah these horses are great stories but bettors want to see some value for their wagering bucks. |

I love a punt as much as the next man but you dont have to bet on every single race mate. Its races like this where you can fully enjoy them without even thinking about having a punt on the race that makes the sport so great.
On a different note $1.20 can be value |

#195 Posted: 6/23/2012 9:17:35 PM Well that win won't convince any doubters but it was, nethertheless, a win.
She did not race like the Black Caviar that we know and even if Nolen had ridden her out she only wins by a half length. It was a workman like performance rather than the explosive efforts that we have grown accustomed to. Despite Moody saying prior to the race that she had never been in better condition, she clearly wasn't and raced like a tired horse. Only the very best can win races of that calibre when not at their prime.
I doubt we will se her race again but she has captured the imagination of Australians like no other horse in living memory.
Black Caviar you are a champion - I salute you. |
