#4 Posted: 11/26/2009 2:12:38 AM person did not do it for. Personally i do not think you can use the Tarantino universe on something that is not fiction. Because it makes it corny.

#5 Posted: 11/26/2009 2:11:14 PM Valkyrie was a joke. Tom Cruise was a horrible choice for the role... he can't even fake a German accent. I personally lose a lot of respect for actors that play a certain ethnicity, but speak in their own tongue with no attempt at using an accent. It's pathetic, should've gone with someone like Viggo Mortensen.
I thought Inglorious Basterds was pretty good. Not one of the best Tarantino flicks, but still pretty decent. Dialogue was ok, not as good as some of his other movies, but still some funny parts. Outside of it being based during WWII, the entire movie was fiction. |

I know that it was fiction, but as you say the WWII part is not. We all know Hitler, Churchill and the like and how that history turned out. Because of that i could not commit to the story because it just seemed corny to me.

I just watched this last night. That part was great. His whole role pretty much had me laughing my behind off. This movie was much better than I expected. I enjoyed it. |

I am NOT a big fan of altering history, entertaining movie BUT....
actually liked Valkyrie and they got the history perfect. Cruise would not have been my choice for Claus von Stauffenberg BUT the rest of the cast was excellent with Kenneth Branagh as General von Tresckow, Terence Stamp as General Beck, Tom Wilkinson as General Friedrich Fromm and Thomas Kretschmann as Major Otto Remer (he was the original choice to play von Stauffenberg)
I will be interested to see IF Red Tails is even half as good as the 1995 HBO movie The Tuskegee Airmen with Laurence Fishburne, Allen Payne, Malcolm- Jamal Warner and Courtney Vance. I think they will have to go some to beat THAT telling of the history. |
