It's pretty risky for any team to sign Manning, doc. His neck might not be 85% healthy and be cleared by his physicians to play football again. He is 35 years old and one hit on the field might get him to retire and goes with the huge money spent on him, i won't risk the money if i were an owner of NFL team. Peyton Manning is a great player but age and injury just pave the way into retirment.

So Irsay has cut him.
From here we see how the arm is.
If Peyton can throw and I mean NFL throw, expect a frenzy and then a signing here in the next couple of days.
I mean, let us be real, if you are a QB challenged NFL team, how fast would you scoop up Manning? A day, two.
The offers should be over the top and crazy.
If he cannot NFL throw, and I think he cannot. You will see stalling and arbitration. You will see Manning talking and talking but doing little. He gains nothing by waiting if he is NFL ready as the money will be there TODAY, if he is not ready then they stall and pray.
The key will be tryouts, he is talking to teams but is he throwing the rock for teams. I doubt he does. Stay tuned.

I respectfully disagree. These necks once fused are as good and maybe even better than new, for a few years at least.
Also, remember in the NFL, as we just saw with Peyton, there is little GUARANTEED MONEY, most of the cash is deferred and then paid. If you are cut in the NFL, for the most part, you do not get paid.
If healthy, he signs within the week for obscene money.
The league has a history of signing and playing over the hill QB's and Manning is not that.
Favre, Montana, Namanth, Collings, garbage every QB goes til the bitter end save Elway and arguably Warner.

i can't argue with you on that bold words, you know your stuff.

i do agree that Favre and Montana won few more games, esp. playoffs games, with another team. But those two QBs were not seriously injuried at the time they were traded or retired. Well, Manning may be healthier than before the surgery but one more hit on the head might reinjure his neck.

Why Colts released Manning if they should think as you likewise and risk on a unproven rookie QB. Granted Luck played really well in college but we have witnessed so many #1 draft QB went bust in pro football.

Irsay must think differently from your points that Manning should be as healthy or even healthier now than before the neck surgery. And Irsay is taking a high risk releasing Manning and signing Luck.

I went back to 14 years ago when Peyton came to the Colts.  I am not sure if Irsay was there at the time but the Colts did the same thing. They cut everybody and totally rebuilt from the ground up. Look for them to be absolutely terrible again this year and slowly come back to prominence.
True, many QB's have been bust but I think Luck will be a great one. Time will tell.
Fusions are solid once they have healed. The bones will be better than before. The problem is over time the fused regions put pressure on the non fused bones above and below. This is where the problems lie. The fusion leads eventually to other problems in these regions.
As far as taking a big hit today, he should be fine. As far as neck problems down the road, well, that my friend is a whole different story.....

Good read on medical stuff over bone fusion, and time will tell if Luck should carry the Colts to prominence.

Marshall Faulk said on NFL Network, Peyton might avoid to compete against his borther Eli in NFC. Faulk explained it as the Manning family culture or something like that as the siblings won't stand on the way to Super Bowl in same Conference. So, Peyton should choose AFC if Faulk is right, and Jets or Dolphins might be good picks.

He is here in Denver right now!
Wow, what a scoop this would be.
Peyton to Denver!
The rumor is he goes to the Fins and this is only for show to get him more dough.
I am unsure if he has thrown at all. They said he was on the practice field some.

Now i've learned that Jets have singed Mark Sanchez to three year extention contract, now we are able to delete the Jets from the possible Manning singing list.

Besides Fins and Broncos, are Jags interested in Manning after new owner at the helm?

I just maxed my 5dimes account on the Manning will not play next year at plus 325.
This may all be smoke and mirrors and for a little money I am going to take a shot.
Go lightly my brothers.

Look, I am a conspiracy theorist to the max but let us rehash this garbage.
Peyton releases a bs video of some grainy shots of him supposedly throwing the rock at Duke.
No other video is forth coming.  This is the "PROOF"  he is ok. C'mon now.
If he could really throw and  I mean really throw, would he not just have an open tryout with some hot babes and chuck it all over the field for half an hour while chilling and sipping on a cool bud light?
WTF.
If you were an NFL GM and looking to sign ol number 18, would you need some confidence he was healed?
Why not just go out to a park and throw it 70 yards down field and then turn around and say  "any questions?"
He is a great guy and arguably the best QB ever but I just do not believe this circus.
He is worth 20 million or so/year if healthy, he will probably sign for about 8 million-10 million/year. It all reeks to me and I am betting against him, til I see some real evidence.
