I am looking to buy one for my nephew.  He is young so I don't need anything to fancy.  it will mostly be used for surfing the internet and a few school projects.  Looking to stay around the $400 range.  Any suggestions?  Thanks guys

bump-
I need about the same thing, no gaming just a surfing simple quick machine without a lot of bloated adware loaded on to it.

I bought my last laptop and one for my son from best buy

I usually shop ebay for anything, but I cannot beat the pc deals at best buy.  Last couple laptops I bought were $350-$400.  I don't know why people pay double that.  Works really good.  Mine was a Sony Vaio and the boys got a Toshiba

The very best value for budget laptops is by far TOSHIBA

They are getting the very best ratings for durability (yes over IBM, DELL, and HP)

They have TONS of models you can catch for $350 - $400 if you don't mind ebay

I bought my sons a couple low end Toshibas and they work great.
