#3 Posted: 4/9/2011 2:34:51 AM Why is the line so even then, Vegas?
Oddsmakers know everyone will take Oswalt over Beachy in this spot, right?

#5 Posted: 4/9/2011 2:46:55 AM Apparently the Braves have a very good home record, according to the commentator I've been listening to. Their win last night backs that up but on the other hand, they were probably handed the victory on a plate last night. |

They did have one of the best home records last year, but this Roy Oswalt the veteran vs. Brandon Beachy the rookie. The Braves were not handed anything, Tim Hudson shut down the Phillies after the 2nd inning.
Braves at home with this price is good value, IMO.

#8 Posted: 4/9/2011 3:10:30 AM Pretty much everything favors the phillies yet the line is -110.
Vegas seems to be begging for you to take the phillies. |

There really isn't a revenge factor here. Other wise every game would be a revenge factor when the team lost the game before. And not dropping 2 games in a row trend isn't that overwhelming since we're only 7 games into the season. |

#10 Posted: 4/9/2011 3:25:37 AM People will jump on the Phils anytime they can get them at that price. They were a popular pick before the season, they'll be a popular pick now. |

In 4 career starts the kid has a career ERA of 2.57 (including two starts against the Phillies) and if he gotten any kind of run support (he’s gotten 4 total runs of support in his 4 starts) he would be 4-0. I’m not sure how that constitutes being “weak.”
Also “revenge?” Seriously? |

#13 Posted: 4/9/2011 4:25:04 AM A fresh unimpeded Oswalt is a great asset. Beginning of the season, no wear and tear. He should dominate and the offense should respond.

#15 Posted: 4/9/2011 5:36:43 AM Brandon Beachy is nice with it. I faded him the first time and paid the cost. Maybe a sophmore jinx though? |

#16 Posted: 4/9/2011 5:46:01 AM Beachy is actually a pretty good pitcher. The Braves are also at home and have the better bullpen. |

And if I remember correctly the phillies bullpen had an ERA around 7 against the braves last season at turner field. |

#19 Posted: 4/9/2011 6:44:00 AM I took the braves for the series and ML yesterday so I’ll be on them again today.
I can’t wait for tomorrow’s game though. Lowe (0.77 ERA) vs. Hamels (20.25 ERA). Braves for anything less than -130 and I'll be all over it. |

#20 Posted: 4/9/2011 6:55:33 AM I know that baseball is a stupid excuse for a sport but I do feel Oswalt is a great pitcher when healthy. This is a question of whether Oswalt is over the hill or not. This early in the season you would think he would be fresh any way about it though. This guy has the potential to pitch 7 with 2 runs allowed and that is about what I expect for tomorrow. Who knows. We shall see. Again, baseball is stupid.

It’s kind of funny those are the numbers you picked since that is exactly what Beachy is averaging over his MLB career.
And if they both do that, then, obviously, it comes down to the bullpens. Advantage: Atlanta.
