     Harry Anslinger was the commissioner of the Federal Bureau of Narcotics in the 1930s.  He claimed that cannabis lead to insanity, murder, and rape.  He persuaded congress to make it illegal and despite opposing opinions from the American Medical Association, congress went forth with Anslinger's request. 

     This man was obviously ignorant on the effects of marijuana and he helped shape America's view of it.  And now it is illegal.  In my opinion, just another example of pure idiocy.

     So I'm telling this guy that there have been no studies done to confirm that cannabis causes brain damage or kills brain cells. He responds by telling me that "they don't even know for sure if smoking cigarettes causes lung cancer".  I could be wrong, but I think this was his way of saying "there's no proof, but we know that both cigs and cannabis are very bad for you".

     I knew right then and there that I wasn't going to win this debate. I honestly felt like I was talking to a moron. Actually... I might have been.

     Sometimes I really wonder, "Am I ever going to hear anything stupider than that?" There really are people out there that believe that cannabis is just evil, and no matter what facts you give them, they simply will not open their mind and think... just for a second... "Hey, maybe I'm wrong about this. Maybe I've been brainwashed like so many other hundreds of millions".
