#1 Posted: 8/9/2012 9:29:41 PM Twice now they've had a guy on second with no outs and he doesn't sacrifice to move the runner to third.. Instead he let's the next batter hit and he strikes out. The whole redsox organization sucks and they shouldn't even call themselves a baseball team. Un friggin real. |

#2 Posted: 8/9/2012 9:37:35 PM Typical Boston, what do you expect from overpaid jerks who dont give a rats behind about the game? We got this though, bug inning from Sox in 8th |

#3 Posted: 8/9/2012 9:37:45 PM I hear ya man I'll never understand it. Perfect guy up with Ellsbury to bunt for a hit or at least move the runner over.
Just overconfident manager thinking everyone will get a big hit. |

#4 Posted: 8/9/2012 9:40:24 PM Wrong. Its the American league with your 1, 2 and 3 hitters coming up after a leadoff double in the 7th. I don't bun't there.
Maybe at the bottom of the lineup or if its the 9th.
Instead...blame the bonehead play by Ciriaco for running to third on a ball hit in front of him and getting tagged out AND getting Crawford doubled off at 2nd. |

Not even talking about how bad the Sox are cuz clearly they're terrible. Just wondering why you don't bunt in that situation.
BooBunny I would agree with you if it was earlier in the game. But in the 7th inning when you have a lefty specialist coming in to face two lefties with speed, I feel like you have a better chance getting that run across by bunting the guy over. Just me though |

#7 Posted: 8/9/2012 9:54:04 PM Sox prolly just don't want to play for a tie. They'd rather take their chances hitting a go ahead homer or just lose so they can go home. |

#9 Posted: 8/9/2012 10:01:47 PM I think you're dead on. Valentine is looking at it as a potential big inning with the heart of the lineup coming up. He wants to play for the win and not the tie. I kind of agree with him in this spot...your top of the lineup guys have to be able to produce given 3 out chances. Of course...the bonehead baserunning only gave them 2 chances.
They hardly ever sacrifice so I was not surprised they didn't. As I type this...Cle sacrifices to 2nd and 3rd with no outs. A wise move for chance at an insurance run with the Sox only having one more AB.

#13 Posted: 8/9/2012 10:53:55 PM You're fighting for a playoff spot and every game is important this time of the year. They play that game smart and get the win and they're 4.5 games back of a wildcats spot instead they're 5.5 out. Valentine is an idiot. They don't deserve to be a playoff team. |
