#27 Posted: 4/1/2012 6:01:01 PM But all I am saying is... People just continued to say the pens are " MUCH " better then the flyers and that is just not the case at all!!! That was my point.
You say you'd rather have Crosby, malkin and Neil over Giroux, hartnell and jagr... Ok I'll give u jagr, but giroux and hartnell are playing just as good as the other |

will flyers choke again in playoffs very possible with the goaltending they have I agree it's a lot of back and forth jibberish but with that said..Flyers choke again? They won a round last year (more than the Pens) with very bad goaltending and then lost to the Stanley Cup Champions. The year before they went to the finals and lost a tough series to a Hawks team nobody was going to beat. The year before that they lost to the Penguins, who were you guessed it, the Stanley Cup Champs. The year before that they lost in the Conference finals to the Penguins.
No they did not win the Cup, but if that's choking I would love to see the labels all the other playoff teams get. That tells me it takes a hell of a great team to knock them out but hey just my two cents...

Honestly, I don't get it! The flyers are 4-1 vs the pens this year. That is enough to say they are a better team. They have 101 points to the pens 102. Wtf tells you they are "much" better??? I don't get you guys
Epic fail.
A few years ago, the number eight seed Montreal Canadiens beat the number one seed Washington Capitals AND the 4th seeded Pens in the playffs - and in the same playoff, the 7th seeded Flyers beat the vastly superior New Jersey Devils. In a short series (five games, seven games) ANYTHING can happen.
(Montreal wasn't better than either the Caps OR Pens that year, and the Flyers weren't better than the Devils. If you don't know this, you don't know hockey so I can't help ya.)
So the fact that the Flyers have won 4 of 5 games against the Pens is statistically insignificant. Just like the one point difference between the two teams in the standings.
To argue that EITHER of these teams is clearly better than the other proves that posters don't know hockey.

#35 Posted: 4/2/2012 2:38:24 PM In a 7 games series, Pittsburgh has enough talent and depth to pose a problem to ANY team in the NHL...Add in a pretty tough golie, and this is why they are one of the favorites to win the cup. Philly is a dangerous team, and one that does give Pittsburgh a few fits. When the refs swallow the whistles like they have been lately, it only favors the Flyers.
It's extremely tough to say who the better team is, the Pens have all of the big names, but Philly boasts a really nice lineup that can score with Pittsburgh...garbage, they have the potential to play a total of 9 games against each other between yesterday and the playoffs. The winner will be the best team, no question about it. I am hoping it is my Pens, but the winner of this series may win the whole thing... |

#36 Posted: 4/2/2012 2:43:06 PM Your argument about the playoffs is stupid. Anything can happen when you get into the playoffs.
My argument was not that the flyers were better, it was that the PENS are not "much" better then the flyers like everyone was saying
Your poinst is also very stupid
So in that case, you FAILED |

The winner of this series may be so beaten up it may be hard to get through Rd 2.

#39 Posted: 4/2/2012 5:13:14 PM Regular season records h2h seldom have any factor on a playoff series IMO. (Ask the Caps fans)
For any that favor Philly in the series based primarily on a 5-1 H2H, ask yourself if you win and play the Rangers in round 2 three weeks from now, how significant is 0-5 vs the Rangers? |

Comment was just food for thought for some (many) that cling to the "regular season dominance" and "undefeated" at Console. That are fact, but how relevant come next week? |

#44 Posted: 4/2/2012 6:39:45 PM Have the Flyers won a game vs the Rangers this year? Sure, maybe the Flyers have gotten the better of the Penguins lately, but it does not mean they are a better team. The last two games played were pretty ridiculous. Penguins had a 2 goal lead in both and just choked them away. I wouldn't put too much stock into those. So, lets say the Flyers have the Penguins number. Maybe they do. I still think the Penguins are a better team though and one every other team in the East would like to avoid come playoff time over the Flyers. It's looking like these two teams will meet first round the playoffs. My money will be on the Penguins to win the series for sure, especially if they have the home ice advantage.

#45 Posted: 4/2/2012 7:11:20 PM ..what matters is cashing again against the flyers losing the first period . for the 3rd time in a row against pitt.. For the game pens were comong off bad streak of losses against the icelanders. Pitts goalie cold as ice.,game matched up for Philly thats it .Playoffs will prob be a whole diffrent outcome. Not that either team can beat the rangers
.rangers first period went under again when henri is in net this trend as I posted several times has been the hottest trend for 2 months now, it maybe missed5 or 6 times in 20 games or more |
