#5 Posted: 3/11/2012 10:56:31 PM I think Casper Ware is a solid player but way over-rated as how they speak about him I would love to eat my words and see him go nuts because I really like the kid. They a good team in their conference beating up on fools, but I doubt they get to sweet 16 |

#9 Posted: 3/12/2012 12:37:43 AM I was actually loving LBSU, waiting to see who they drew... but they ARE NOT beating New Mexico. I believe UNM is in the top 5 most under rated teams in the nation.

#11 Posted: 3/12/2012 12:44:40 AM Not so far with UNM being their first team to play.
The Lobos just beat UNLV at Thomas and Mack. Only team to pull that off this year.

#15 Posted: 3/12/2012 8:47:35 AM QUOTE Originally Posted by dytide: I live in the LBC........' But I got a bad feeling about this first round match-up.......... The X-factor or at this point, or question mark in the match up, is the status of Larry Anderson, LBST's second leading scorer, and best defender. N Mex's strength is in their guard play, with 6 guards getting significant playing time. Anderson injured his knee before their conf. final and sat against UCSB. If he doesn't play, or play effective against the Lobos they'll be one and done.
Anderson's not only the conference defensive player of the year, he's LBST's second leading scorer, averaging 14 ppg to go with 5 rebounds, while leading the team in steals. Add his 3.1 assts/ gm and you've got a guy who puts in a hard day at the office. The problem if he doesn't play or play effectively is, not just Williams 12.0 ppg and Snells 11.0, but the four other back up guards who average just under 20 minutes / game collectively, Walker 7.3 ppg, Fenton 6.6 ppg, Greenwood 6.3 ppg and McDonald 6.0. If Ware's not able to concentrate on what he does best, score, and if the Lobo's are able to keep constant defensive pressure on him, it will be a long game for Ware. Both seniors that were recruited together and have grown with this LBST program, finaly made past their conf nemesis, UCSB, and were in tears after the conference final against the Gauchos. Without both on the floor playing major minutes effectively, the conference finals and just one game in the Big Dance will be all that they'll have to look back on in their college days together. I for one, hope they advance, but without Anderson, they couldn't have drawn a worse match up, as far as guard play goes. BOL

#19 Posted: 3/12/2012 9:22:33 AM I have Long Beach going one and done. Louisville is going to the Sweet 16, maybe even the Elite 8 before Missouri takes the bracket.
As for Anderson, this was posted in an article last night:
"I highly doubt I will be 100%, but I will be really close," Anderson said.
Monson said that "it is one of those injuries where we won't know how he can play until he gets out there. We're not going to jeopardize his career."
Anderson has been jogging and doing "full court dribbling" the last two days.
"It sore, but it's a good sore, not irritating," Anderson said. "It's sore because I have probably been doing a little too much on it. Hopefully by the end of the week it will be fine."
Missing Thursday's game, Anderson said, wasn't an option. |
