Okay. 36 points, 11 assists, 8 rebounds, 5 steals, 2 blocks............and a partridge in a pear tree.

I guess rest is important. Even in Summer League

Underwhelming.  You see those mid range jumpers he missed? Terrible. He should have scored 50 with 20 assists and what kind of bum point guard only gets 8 boards and 2 blocks.  what a bum.  5 steals meh i could get 5 steals.  Garbage player. The next Ricky Rubio (you know because Jalen Rose compared him to Rubio at the draft and thats the only comparison i am capable of making)

Sam, you need to calm the F down

All I did was post his stats, which, for some stupid reason known only to you, seem to be inferior to what you think his performance level should be.

"what kind of bum point guard only gets 8 boards?"

Could you make me a list of point guards that avg 8 boards per game?

I'm sure it's a long one, since, you think it's so easy.............

..............................................I'll wait

Let me help: Westbrook..............................

all anyone can talk about is lonzo ball or fultz or Tatum or Jackson or fox. The rookie of the year might be Dennis Smith Jr kid is beasting in summer league and will be the day one starter playing big minutes. Before the season started I remember some mock drafts had DSJ at #1 or #2 but his stock fell. I'm already sick of all this lonzo ball crap. Have to just accept that a lot of people are just always going to hate this kid. But I think he'll be a very good starting nba point guard. And consistently average 10 + assists. DSJ has just as much potential but with a much different game. Like fox too. All three are long term nba starters.

Ditto with fultz but I have to admit I've hardly watched him play. Just based on what I've read. A lot of smart people really like fultz. This could go down as one of the better point guard drafts ever

16/12/10 last night, but only 6/20 shooting..............

A lot of people are going to hate the kid, just because of his father, which doesn't make sense, but I can understand. I was not fond of Tiger Woods dad "Change the World, like Gandhi" proclamation either.

Still the hype machine without the father would still be there.:

  • Exciting college player, can pass and hit some threes
  • Went to UCLA-not exactly a small college in terms of college basketball
  • Picked #2 in the draft by his hometown team
  • By Magic Johnson, no less........
  • Trying to bring a once-storied franchise back to relevance
  • Don't know if you guys know this, but LA/Hollywood has had a few years of practice firing up the Hype Machine
I'm sure there are other players, that will have better careers, but they just don't have all these storylines to fall back on. Take Fultz, for example. He could be ROY, and there might not be that much "buzz" about it. Why? Well, he was picked Number One, he's supposed to be ROY, and even if he does, remember, he was just part of 'The Process'

Lonzo was projected as the 5th guard taken then.

DSJ was for a long time rated as the #1 Guard in the draft.  And it was usually either Josh Jackson or DSJ Being ranked #1.

Giles and Rabb really saw their stock drop.

Names like Markannen, Collins, and Kennard not even listed.

Interesting....

Okay, final numbers

36% floor, 19% 3s, 79% FT, 8.3 RPG, 9.8 APG

I think the Rebounding and Assists are pretty good for a guard, but shooting looks to be a work in progress.

On one hand, he's 19. On the other, as the #2 pick, I think you'd expect more.....

To be continued..................

I don't think anyone expects Lonzo to be a 20 ppg player or big time scorer in the NBA.  I know i don't.  His game is predicated on his elite passing ability.  12, 9 and 6 is right around what i expect him to average in his rookie season.  And he will continue to grow.  In college he hit 40%+ of his 3 point shots.  If he can get that number to 35%+ in the pros he should have a fine career.  Not going to be a elite superstar or perennial all star, there are just too many talented Guards in the West.  But should be a rock solid starting PG for years to come.

His game reminds me of Greivis Vasquez (not a knock, i always liked Vasquez' game) with much more potential and opportunity to succeed.  Vasquez never really got that chance other than one year with New Orleans where he averaged 14 & 9 in starters minutes.

I see Lonzo's career in that 12-15 ppg, with 9-11 apg, and 6-7 rpg in the future.  A stat line that is very Jason Kidd-esque.

its funny    the summer league is now over and most of the free world has anointed him the heir apparent.  If his father really loves him then he should just disappear and keep his mouth shut.  At 19 he already has a bullseye on his chest.  The kid has a lot of work to do.  Sure he can pass but that is what your supposed to do if you play guard.  You make showboat passes and you are instantly credited as a great player.  No one talks about the games he got smoked in.....his teams lost games, he did not win the ncaa championship and I believe in the game of premier guards he did not fare well.  Let him play and down the road we will see what happens....  who knows?    nobody thats who

Has the potential to be one of the most exciting players in the league.  Love his game.

Not sure which current player he reminds me of.  Maybe Eric Bledsoe with that athleticism from the PG spot.
