#27 Posted: 8/12/2012 2:03:34 PM Brain Dead (1990)
just happened to watch this on the new EPIX Drive-In channel last night and it was a really GOOD horror - psyco thriller with Bill Pullman, Billy Paxton, George Kennedy and Bud Cort who is one of my fav actors from the 1970's for MASH, Brewster McCloud and Harold & Maude. had oodles of crazy "plot twists". ref >>> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brain_Dead_(1990_film) (basic plot and cast. NOT a "spoiler") |

#28 Posted: 8/13/2012 12:45:55 PM J. Edgar (2011) pretty good biography of J Edger Hoover with Leonardo DiCaprio. kind of "jumps around" and can be confusing in spots. worth watching for the "history" and DiCaprio's acting. it's on HBO all next week
The Whistleblower (2010) political thriller based on true events in Bosnia. Rachel Weisz plays Kathryn Bolkovac who "blew the whistle" on NATO contract security people that were involved in trafficking prostitutes. excellent action and suspense. I was somewhat suprised how good the plot was. definately worth watching. on various EPIX channels next week |

#29 Posted: 8/15/2012 1:09:31 PM watched James Cagney's 1961 comedy One, Two, Three last night on TCM. I would rate it one of the BEST "screwball comedy" movies EVER along with What's Up Doc?, Bringing Up Baby, What Did You Do In the War, Daddy?, and Let It Ride. it's one gag line after another and well worth watching. |

#30 Posted: 8/16/2012 10:24:03 AM American Psycho- I thought it was a really good movie and it's been on HBO this month. Worth watching in my opinion. Christian Bale plays a really good role. |

#32 Posted: 8/19/2012 2:00:36 PM watched The Beautician and the Beast (1997) last night on one of the premium channels. was kind of "cute-funny" comedy with Fran Drescher and Timothy Dalton as the title characters. Ian McNeice as the "Slovetzia" diplomat Grushinsky has some really funny lines and there are oodles of excellent "one liners" throughout like when Drescher's character asks Dalton's three kids "IF your father is the President, WHAT do you call the person that runs against him in an election?" and they reply "Looser?", "Traitor?", "Missing?"
I give it a BUT also realise that Fran Drescher and her nasal "New Yark" accent can be an "acquired taste" |

#33 Posted: 8/20/2012 12:55:20 PM Cowboys & Aliens (2011). most critic write ups threw rocks and it IS a pretty stupid plot BUT thought it had excellent action in spots and some crazy "plot twists". thought that Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford, and Megan Fox counterfeit Olivia Wilde were all excellent as their characters.
I give it a |

#36 Posted: 8/22/2012 2:32:12 PM 'Pontypool'....Found it on netflix instant. Had never heard of it. Almost didn't bother watching it.
I guess you'd call it a horror movie...I don't really know how to describe it, not much plot, ending is kinda weak...I really liked it tho'. Pretty killer movie. |

#40 Posted: 8/23/2012 11:52:10 AM Se7en (1995) EXCELLENT "psyco-horror" drama staring Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman with Gwyneth Paltrow, R. Lee Ermey and Kevin Spacey in supporting roles. basic plot is two cops chasing a serial murderer who is wacking people he belives are gulty of one of the seven (hence the movie name) deadly sins. excellent suspense and action with an ending that will definately darn with your mind. the sets cinematography has a real dark "Blade Runner" feel to it.
I would say |

#44 Posted: 8/25/2012 10:53:23 AM Videodrome (1983). WAY crazy "psychodrama" that is just plain WIERD. stars James Woods, Deborah Harry, Sonja Smits and Peter Dvorsky. for a flat chested broad, Harry is one sexy beast in this one. I'm sure it's a fav of S&M fans.
Spaceballs (1987). written, produced and directed by Mel Brooks is about all you need to know. it's a typical Brooks "send up" of the Star Wars trilogy with Brooks, Rick Moranis, the late John Candy, Bill Pullman, Daphne Zuniga and the voice of Joan Rivers as "Dot Matrix". cameo by John Hurt as his Alien character Kane with a "chest buster" AGAIN popping out of him and then doing a short song and dance near the ending. VERY funny movie

#46 Posted: 8/26/2012 4:05:21 PM A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas (2011) another installment of "the 21st century Cheech & Chong" pair with plenty of jokes about weed, sight gags and oneliners. VERY funny in spots and VERY fast paced. it's on HBO channels all next week |

#49 Posted: 8/28/2012 1:37:20 PM Tower Heist (2011) decent comedy with Eddie Murphy, Ben Stiller, Alan Alda and Matthew Broderick. I thought Gabourey Sidibe as "Odessa" the Jamaican maid/safecracker definately stole the scenes she was in and both Judd Hirsch as The Tower's general manager Mr. Simon and Stephen Henderson as Lester, the Tower's doorman, were excellent in small rolls.
don't think it's really a "must see" movie BUT it's is pretty funny in spots and is worth watching or recording. it's on Cinemax thru Saturday. I would say a |
