His mistake gave me probably an extra $10,000 to 15,000.

I never fix a ticket the writer people up. It's like divine intervention and usually works out for you. Never had that much money on the line either though.

This is the funniest thing I ever saw in Vegas.

About 10 years ago I was killing time playing nickel video poker at the Gold Coast. These machines had a "double-up" feature where, on any winning hand, you could try to double your win by picking a card higher than the dealer's card (basically a 50/50 shot). If you doubled and won you could again take a shot to double your winnings but if you lost you lost everything you have won to that point.

So this homeless dude sits down two machines away from me and pulls some change out of his pocket, searching for nickels, and puts 2 or 3 in the machine. He is looking at the buttons trying to figure out how to play...finally plays a hand and wins maybe 15 credits. He hits the double up button, and wins, then doubles again and wins...and keeps doubling...and winning! Each time he wins the machine racks up his credits and is taking longer and longer to do so...and after a while I stop playing my machine and just watch him.

He keeps hitting the double up button and keeps winning...maybe like nine times total. By this time he has over $300 in credits, all after starting with 2 or 3 nickels! I am watching him to see if he is gonna cash out or risk it all once more...and he is just looking at the machine and just seems baffled. I finally ask him "hey man, do you know what you are doing?" and he says "naw, man, I just been trying to get my money out of this thing". He had NO IDEA that he had been winning...he was just pushing buttons! I explained to him that if he hit the button on the left, they would come pay him about $300. He says "no garbage?", I say "no garbage!" and he hits that button. They come hand pay him over $300 and he digs back into his pocket, finds his last two nickels, puts them in, loses, and takes off.

When i was 17 years old i went to vegas with my older brother and a few of his buddies. At that time i used my brothers friend ID one who didnt go. I used the ID to club, gamble and hit the the stripclub and it passed everywhere. One night we ended up at circus circus and i decided to play poker. It was either a 3/6 or 1-2 NL game. An hour in our table hits a bad beat jackpot. I'm freaking out and scared, the floorman walks to our table collects everyones ID and says i'll be back and please have your SS card or know your SS number and you'll have to fill out papers. As the floorman walks away i go to the restroom call my bro and tell him what just happens he freaks out than laughs, told him i need his buddies SS#. A few minutes later i get a text with the SS#. I'm back at the table floorman makes everyone fill out papers( basic stuff name adresse DOB etc) and SS#. Loser and winner of the hand i think was like 20k to winner 40+k to loser and table share was $1800 to everyone at the table. Scary and exciting Vegas moment for me felt good to go back to high school a few days later haha.

I'm talking relatively small potatoes here, but amusing, nontheless.  One time I was at a casino in Reno, down to my last $5.  I called my Wyfe via cell phone to come meet me.  There was a $1 slot across the aisle.  So while I waited, I put my $5 bill in and played. Four times, no result.  On the fifth and last play, I won $800.

One time, at Caesar's Palace in Vegas, I ordered a bottle of water from a cocktail waitress, then sat down at a penny slot machine to wait.  I was very thirsty and resolved to sit there til the water came.  I put $5 in the penny slot (Cleopatra slot) and started to play.   Wasn't very interested given it was a penny slot.  In a few minutes, I won $640.11.  I tipped the cocktail waitress a twenty.  She was happy.  I was happy.

Last week we were taking my little sister to school. I had to piss really bad so we pulled off the highway at some small Indian casino here in OK. Mom said lets put a $20 in a machine. I told her to just put it in a $5 machine. I tell her to wait on me. I get out and she only has $5 left. I take her $5 and my $20 and stick it in a nickel machine. Betting 5 a spin the second spin it locks up for 12500. My mom is freaking out and hollering. I thought I only hit 1200 so I wasn't too excited. Once I realized how much we won I got a lot more excited.

Loved reading everyone's stories.

I unfortunately have not been to Vegas yet but I do plan on going whenever I get enough time off school or work.

I live in Canada and do a lot of online wagering.

My BEST wager ever made was a 2 team parlay for $100

It was 2011 during the heart of the Stanley Cup Playoffs and the NBA Playoffs. Both the Dallas Mavericks and the Boston Bruins had lost Game 1 of their respective series and I was able to get some great odds by parlaying both of these teams to win their championship. For $100 I had a payout of $1600 pending. The Mavericks stormed back in the series by utilizing a zone defense which Miami could not figure out. All I needed was for the Bruins to march into Vancouver and win Game 7. I was thinking of hedging out, but after all it was only $100 and I would have only been able to guarantee myself about $500 or $700 of profit if I remember correctly. I stuck it out and Boston kept the cup out of Vancouver and thus brought me a large payment. The best part was I made the wager on sportsinteraction, a sportsbook that had fucked me out of a $50 prop bet the week before, so it felt good to withdraw that large sum of money (for me anyways) off that website.

I always tend to have good luck when a book people me over.

I can't wait to check out Vegas someday -- keep the stories coming boys!

I now know thanks to y'all to avoid the blackjack tables when I first get there!

Last season, a friend of mine put a $100 Future bet right before the NFL playoffs (I think). He took NYG to win the superbowl and all of our friends, including me thought he was an idiot. This guy just had a gut feeling and went with it at +2000. All of us thought they would've lost their first playoff game to GB. Nope, NYG spanked them. We all thought they were going to lose to SF at SF... Wrong again. Superbowl was coming up and we were telling our friend he should hedge the bet a little to atleast get back his initial $100... He didn't. He rode the play out and if I'm not mistaken, he also put a hundo on the ML and won that, too. He was down about 2 grand on the season, and NYG winning the superbowl put him even, if not up a little. Biggest win in his life being that he is only a $50-$100 bettor. Since then he has been on a roll in the preseason. He doesn't start with a BR, nor does he bet in units. Just gut feeling and his personal opinion. He doesn't try to cap the game, or does he do any sort of research. Right now, he is up over $1200 from betting on the NFL preseason cause he just hit a $40 5tm parlay and a few big straight bets. The guy is just on a crazy run....

This year I was having one of the worst losing streak of my life.  I did very well in march madness, but when the nba playoffs started, i kept getting moose job after moose job, bad beat after bad beat.  During this period,  I keep chasing my loses. I put 1k on pacquaio to win by decision and the bs judging to bradley put another dent to my bankroll.  From james harden last second 3 against the spurs, to jr smith bs last second non bearing jumper down to okc bowing to the heat. It came to a point i lost 7 straight playoff games. I was starting to read several websites on gamblers anonymous, experiences of other people losing their money on gambling etc.  anyway, im not yet on that level but im afraid im going to lose everything.  I started to reduce my betting to as little as 25 dollars just to stay on the game. As per advice by many, theres no shame in betting 20s or 25s.

My luck came this weekend.  Last wednesday, i received an invitation to join a slot tournament at red rock casino for the labor day weekend exclusively for their high level members.  Since in station casinos, they count ur sportsbet in their rewards point, i qualified with my platinum card. I dont play slot machine coz the house advantage is freakin huge. Since the tournament is free, I said what the hell, i brought one guest (my wife) to join with me.  The line was very long, it took about 45 minutes for me to start playing.  The contest is only 3 minute long.  On Saturday, I won first place at red rock casino.  12, 500 first prize.  Yesterday, September 2, i went back for another round and placed 11th, made another 500.  Overall made 13k for a grand total of 6 minute slot play.

Now, Im financially way ahead of my sportsbetting.  Lessons learned, 1. dont chase ur loses, 2. dont bet every game every day, 3. Bet same amount (since im a not a sharp or a pro), there is no such thing as a lock.  4. There is no shame to betting 20s or 25s.  5.  Lastly, only quitters quit. :)

I live here and loved all the stories...one Sunday morning at the Palms I settled in for a afternoon of playing the ponies at Santa Anita...went to McDonalds, grabbed a large coke and was on my way back to my seat...all of a sudden a machine starts pinging really loud and as I look up people are cheering, the lady sitting at the machine is crying and my only thought is WTF...so I casually venture over and ask a guy what happened the woman won 8 million dollars paying the Megabucks machine...to think I was that close to 8 million dollars was a nice thought...was really happy for the lady.

1997, I was at Caliente sportsbook in TJ Mexico, I use to go there to place my wagers, watch the games, eat good mexican food, and then go to Chicago Club or Adalita's for 60 dollar hookers.

So this trust fund kid is there, and he plays big, roughly 5K a game.
So I made a play on the lakers facing Orlando for the first time since the Shaq trade, year before the big diesel was injured.

so to my surprise the sniviling daddys rich boy has the same wager,
Lakers are favored by 4 and are down by 24 at the half.

No Biggie for me even if it lost as I just had 440 to win 400 on it and That wasnt my best game, the bucks vs Miami was my top play that day.

Well, little rich boy is sitting at the table infront of us and making an absolute fool of himself and the ter ugly american was in full effect and on display, cursing, swearing and disrespecting the waitresses and staff.

He throws his ticket toward the TVs spits on a TV and says darn you kobe, walks out, I go pick up his ticket and its 5K to win 4500

I put it in my pocket cause you never know.
Well that day was a you never know day as Rodman started pulling rebound after rebound and the lakers stormed back and won by 12.

I went to the ticket counter and the little frog looking guy was like
Egh Amigo this isnt your ticket, I said
Shut up cash it, You take 500 and 500 for your supervisor.
They cashed it, I walked away with over 8375 after there 1.5% extra vig Bullshit, as im leaving, Little rich boy runs back in, and says Player Player, did you see what happened to my ticket that I threw away?

I said you its in that garbage over there, (I pointed him to the garbage where all the sour cream and gaucomole and salsa were, He is sticking his hands in there and hes like ughhhhh

I never felt better taking someones money.
If it were anyone else, I would have never cashed it, just given the ticket back, but this guy is such a douche.

i was at the old sahara sports book waiting on my game to come on, so this guy with this heavy italian new york accent sits next to me and starts looking at the screen that was showing the horses. his race was coming up and while looking at the sheet he starts saying these numbers 6,8,9,4 over and over so he says to himself "im going to play these numbers but he didnt for some reason i didnt ask. to make a long story short these numbers came in order for the superfecta which would have paid this darn between 50,000 to 80,000 grand. after seing this, the guy starts hitting his head on the table while saying dumb darn to himself and throws a chair before he storms out. so people ask me what happen, and i told them he picked the superfecta but didnt play it.

I lost five games in a row. ONE WIN would help. I saw this iPad2 giveaway on a site called Bragstr so I entered that, hopefully it’ll give me a win. They’re giving away a garbage ton in prizes because I guess it’s pretty new or something. Do you guys know anything about that?

I stayed at the Paris Hotel for a weekend with my wife and was walking the floor around 8 at night and walked by the private blackjack table room.  This guy had his private table and looked borderline homeless.  He had a a cardboard box like the ones you put 4 six-packs of soda in on the chair next to him with a third filled with cash.  He had at least 5-6 stacks about 10 inches high in $100 chips and couple smaller five hundred chip stacks.  He was playing 2 hands and would just shove the stacks not even knowing how much he was betting, it was pretty crazy. Couple times the stacks were so high they would just fall over.  He seemed out of it like he was drunk but was drinking water the whole time.  Maybe 5 minutes into watching him he went on a hot streak and hit at least 6 blackjacks in 5 minutes, that was the craziest thing ever, he could not lose. They were rotating 3 dealers for him but he kept tipping all 3 dealer (about 2k in the 10-15 minutes I watched this guy).  At one point a concierge from the hotel came by the table and tried to get him to stop and said they needed to close his table.  He was pissed!!!

On a separate trip I was downtown at the Fremont with some friends at the blackjack table around 3am and this old guy comes on the table and was drunk.  He throws 3k on the table and plays 1k on the first hand, loses, then he bets another 1k on the next hand and loses.  Takes another 1k in cash out of his pocket and tries to put 2k on one hand. The dealer checks with the pit boss and he allows the bet. He gets 16 and hits and busts.  The guy was wearing khaki pants and started to piss in his pants right at the table! He gets up and gets escorted out.  One of my friends comes over couple minutes later and sits in the chair lol!!!

Wassup guys... I got another one...

Drove up to Buffalo Bill's to take my family to go ride the roller coaster which we found out was closed down when we got there. Ended up gambling in the hotel while my family went shopping in the mall connected to the hotel. I was on the craps table when this guy comes and takes the position to my left. His friends were on the table and asked him how he was doing. He told them he was on his last $20 but his luck was about to change. I ended up crapping out and it was his turn to roll. He put $5 on the pass line and the rest on hard 8. He would set his dice up a certain way before each roll, and a few rolls later he hits his hard 8. He spread some of his winnings on all the hardways and a few rolls later he hit another hardway. He kept pressing up his hardway bets, but not really paying attention to the passline number. He kept hitting the hard numbers and kept pressing up his bets. At one point, he had $100 on all the hardways and hit one of those before he hit the easy number. He threw a few passes and every now and then he would throw money on "yo" or "box cars" and he would hit them more than not. It was crazy!!! He rolled for about half an hour, but in that little time, he made over 3 grand mainly playing the hardways. Thats when I learned that playing the hardways is not always a sucker bet if the roller knows how to use dice control.

BTW.... I asked him why he set his dice like that and he told me to go check out goldentouch craps. Youtube it... it is very interesting... I tried it the last time I went to Vegas and I actually hit more hardways than usual...

A few years ago, I met a girl from Vegas while on vacation to San Juan.  Kept in touch with her, and she invites me out there.  I fly out on a Friday night, take a cab to her place.  We go out to her friend's party, drink heavily, then hit the casinos, where we continue to drink heavily.  My last memory was being at the craps table talking college football with some guy.

I wake up in the morning, and I am in a hotel room in Treasure Island by myself.  I had no idea how I ended up there because I was staying with her.  I had no money in my pocket, no wallet, no cell phone.  The only thing I had in my pocket was a bet slip from Caesars on the Georgia-Auburn game for $2250 on the OVER.  Damn Caesars and it's 24-hour sportsbook.

I totally freak out, as I don't remember her phone number or address (her address was on my phone).  Since I have no money, I have no choice but to go downstairs and pray for the over on the Georgia game.  Fortunately, the game goes waaay over.  I cash in my ticket at Caesars but am then clueless about what to do, as I haven't the foggiest idea of how to find the girl.  Go back to Treasure Island, sit in the sportsbook, get drunk (best cure for the hangover I was dealing with), and bet a bit more to keep occupied.  Start to wonder how I am going to get on the plane the next day without any ID.

Amazingly, that evening, she shows up at Treasure Island looking for me.  She had blacked out too, woke up with my belongings, but not me.  She checked her credit card statement to try to piece together the night, and there was a charge for the hotel room at TI.  Thus, she went there to see if she could find me.....friggin vegas.

One night I was in a 15-30 limit game at the Taj in AC, and I was getting my clock cleaned. If you ever been there you know the Keno room shares space with the poker room, so after an hour of doing nothing I get up grab a blank ticket and come back to the table and notice a deck change. So while we are waiting, I ask everyone at the table who basically has all my cash to give me a number, including the dealer. I play a 40 game 8 spot ticket for $1 a game. We go back to poker, three hours later I am broke. I get up from the table, and notice a flurry of activity in the Keno room, which is unusual and I remember I still have that ticket. So I walk up to the window, give the woman my ticket, and she says "Oh your the lucky one"

I hit two 8/8 games for $16,000 each and a 7/8 for $1500. I went back to the table I lost at like an hour later after filling out all the tax forms, and thanked each person who took my money and gave me a Keno Number.

I was working in the service industry several years ago, and our closing staff had compiled approximately $50 worth in tips. We decide to go to a local casino and throw it all on one number on one spin of the roulette wheel.

We ultimately decide on Black 29. So I'm standing at the table with the dealer about to call out "No More Bets!" with the chips in my hand when I think to myself "Ehh...let's wait one more spin". Of course the ball lands on 29. Cost us all $1750. Didn't hear the end of that one for awhile.

I am heading to LV this weekend and was reading these stories to get myself jacked .... well done gents, you were successful.  This will be my 2nd trek to LV, and in my first trip (my buddies BP) we just got our feet wet, but this time back I plan on being better prepared.  Anyways, wanted to share a story about my first time around .... I gamble quite a bit, have back home, but mainly stuck to low key sports bets, roulette, BJ, and a little bit of craps (again, mostly low key bets, nothing extreme).  So one morning at 10AM we're having Vodka and OJ's at the Bellagio ... I'm walking past the blackjack tables and there is a crowed of maybe 25-30 people around one table.  I think, sweet someone famous, and walk over.  Now this dude could have been famous, no idea, but one thing is certain he was hammered.  He had every seat at the table occupied with roughly $500-$1000 in bets at each positon.  He had a massive stack infront of him, and his general attitude made me think that he had just gone on a massive run (if I had to estimate, I would say over $40k).  He was calling out to people watching, asking for kisses, giving high 5s to people.  It was pretty funny.  I watched for a bit, he raked in some more big hands, and went on a rant about how "he was suppose to be at the golf course for 1000 for a golf tournament but clearly didn't give a F*CK" ...... So I got a chuckle, walked around some more, played a bit, met up with my buddies.  As we are leaving I decided I want to see if he's still there (about an hour and a half or so had passed) ... I come back to see a very thinned out crowed around him, not to mention a very thinned out chip stack .... he now looks like a shell of his former self.  Now true he could have cashed in, but this was not the look of a man who just raked in and was playing with the houses money .....

Admittedly I felt bad for said drunk guy because I respect gambling, and he seemed like he was enjoying himself.  Still though, haha, couldn't help but shake my head as I walked away ....

this was ac not vegas...a long time ago...im underrage but hanging out with my dads friend while hes throwing craps passing time during a relatively dead part of the day- this guy walks up to the table wearing sunglasses, a hat, and a brown trenchcoat,

he reaches into his coat pulls out a 5 grand stack and puts it on field - its my friends roll.  he throws an 8 and i thought trenchcoat was going to flip out.  Instead he just keeps looking at the table completely stoic....pulls out another 5 grand stack puts it on field... roll comes out a 5.  Again, no reaction from trenchcoat and friend collects the dice.

Still stone faced, guy pulls out a third 5 grand stack and puts it on the field....needless to say my dads friend rolls a 6 and now im expecting somethign crazy to happen but the guy just whispers 'f*ck' or something to himself and walks away.......next roll: SNAKE EYES! guy would have gotten 2/1 on it good thing he was far enough away from the table that he didnt see

it was absolutely absurd guy blew 15 grand in maybe a minute or 2

Seems like a lot of these stories are about being drunk so let me jump on in.  In the late 90's I took a trip to LV with my wife and in-laws, we stayed at the MGM.  On the first night after a great dinner at Wolfgang Pucks I started playing BJ at 9PM,  Everyone else went to bed.  Needless to say I got hammered real bad but was winning and having fun.  Around 5AM my father in-law finds me says my wife is pissed and I should go up to the room   I give him a handful of chips and tell him to tell wifey I'm winning and will be up in a bit.  At 6AM and 7AM the same thing, finally he makes me leave and go upstairs, I cash out up about up a $1,000. plus what I gave the wife.  I'm so drunk I sleep all day, suffer with a bad hangover.
Eventually I recover and ask the wife how much I gave her and it's around $2,000.  so I tell her to keep it hoping she won't be pissed.
About 10 years later we're having dinner with my daughter and her husband and she asks me to tell her husband about the time I won in Vegas.  So I start telling about how I won 3K and my wife says ten, I say what?  She says ten, you won 10K I never told you.
To this day I don't know what happened to the 7K, my wife does love shoes though.  THE MORAL is don't gamble drunk whether you win or lose.
