#1 Posted: 1/18/2012 8:23:56 PM Not only do they have the WORST ODDS in town, they're AFRAID to book a 2 team teaser for the NFL playoff games. You can only bet a 3 team teaser. How chicken sh*t is that? The writers are all roling their eyes when you ask them and some say their drop is down from last year. Was this John Forts call ? Majority of locals are taking their money else where to Caesers or Wynn's. When it comes to the Super Bowl , screw the Stations Casino ! |

#2 Posted: 1/18/2012 8:39:16 PM most of the books have no balls , inept employees and dont even put out the correct betting sheets.
Perfect example is the Imperial Palace , was one of the best books, put out the sheets early and even had a guy who put out the horse racing sheets for the next day by 10 am the day before.
Now the place is a garbage hole and mostly a ghost town.

#4 Posted: 1/18/2012 9:24:49 PM I noticed MGM and Wynn had some of the better odds (for dogs) when I bet SF this last weekend. Totally agree though, the people taking bets all seemed to just hate the world and everyone at the window. |

#7 Posted: 1/18/2012 11:14:12 PM if you want a glimspe of working in a book especially as a ticket writer, imaging dealing with dopes who first call the bets incorrectly, bet $5 , and basically are like Jim Ignitowski but worse.
The Palms, Cannery , Palace Station are typical low life scumbag hangouts. |

#10 Posted: 1/18/2012 11:40:54 PM Uhqb I was gonna post this last week (about the teasers) the ironic thing is they would have cleaned up on teasers with the steelers going down and with NO and GB both losing this week. |

#11 Posted: 1/18/2012 11:55:03 PM Dealing with the public is never easy, then add a mix of alcohol and general stupidity and it can get really tedious in a hurry. What I have done is tip a ticket writer 2 to 5 dollars on your first bet of the day, and then continue to use the same writer all the time. the service then gets much better. |

The IP used to be one of the better places to play, 2 years ago I went in around 10am on a week day, no one was there, staff or customers. |

Well said. I have been visiting vegas for 30 years. It has definitely jumped the shark. It has lost its personality, which was hospitality and customer service. Now most ( not all ) have not factored in the give back to entice return business. They recruit from a labor pool that considers a job an inconvenience rather then a privilege and it is reflected i every aspect of that city. That being said there are obviously a garbage load of consumers that demand very little for there money. |

#14 Posted: 1/19/2012 2:31:32 AM Really a "Catch 22" here guys......Wanting a free well-drink for a $2 show bet.....or the guy in the first row screaming "darn You Kobe" and never made a bet......And the ticket writers have to sit there through their shift watching/listening/apologizing......
I was at the Bellagio over the weekend......please accept this criticism for what it is worth.....THE CROWD IN THE SPORTSBOOK BELONGED AT THE EXCALIBUR!!!.....but....free drinks??????....and there they are!!!!
Yeah, this town has really gone downhill concerning sports gambling since I first starting coming here over 30 years ago.....but so has the customer.
Which is why Cantor, Leroys's (William Hill eventually) will take over this town with electronic/mobile gambling......Good luck to AC; the hookers will charge more and it will make Vegas look like Heaven.
The people that work here REFLECT the people that come here. |

Wow! Vegasgourmet I am seriously rethinking my opinion of you. That was stated so perfectly I am in tears. If people today could only experience the Vegas that was! Its a new age and apparently theres not much we can do about it. |

#16 Posted: 1/19/2012 11:53:25 AM I did downtown for 3 months this past summer. The people at the windows were for the most part professianal and courteous. A very few exceptions here and there. The El Cortez had good folks and a decent place to watch the games and horse / dog tracks. Love the old school feel of the place. Also some exceptionaly nice folks at Fitzgeralds. - It can I'm sure be a trying job at the windows. Especially putting up with the tourist without a clue. All things considered I had a blast. Can't wait to return. |

#17 Posted: 1/19/2012 11:59:26 AM someone who sits in the book cursing and doesnt wager gets tossed out by the staff after a complaint call to the security office.
The book I worked in we didnt hesitate to toss someone and did it so much we had our own security officer walking the book.
Regarding the low life quality of the customers and the books itself , it is true but thats mainly thanks to the southern-california trash that really took this town down , but I have been here since the early 90's and it was trash then too.

#18 Posted: 1/19/2012 1:30:55 PM Las Vegas got out of the sportsbetting business in the early 90's. The sportsbooks are here now to keep the people in the hotel, take small bets, those moronic parlay cards and to have those stupid football contests where some 95 year old lady wins a house because her dentures landed on the right teams.
A jagoff named Art Manteris mismanages Station Casinos sportsbooks. He doesn't know the first thing about sportsbetting and doesn't care to. He'll take action from squares because that's 95% of the cutomers there and he ran out the sharps years ago. Station casinos are local, dumpy casinos that cater to lowlifes and bustouts. Their properties are dives.
Las Vegas is a has been destination. I don't know why anyone would come here. It's a dirty, ghetto city with overpriced rooms, overpriced food and drink and entertainers way past their prime or ones that never had a prime. The machines are tight as hell. The table games suck. Save your money and go someplace else for a vacation. |

I love coming to Vegas. But yeah the downtown area is definitely ghetto as I was approached to buy drugs on mutliple occasions. |

#22 Posted: 1/19/2012 6:11:54 PM its great too see some real on the nose comments on how bad las vegas really is now. It is a slum, go a mile either direction from center strip and see the real action.
Regarding the STATIONS you know how bad their books are as many of their employees are old rejects from the IP. |
