One of if not the worst massacres in history.

It's really upsetting when this particularly horrifying event gets dwarfed by the holocaust. It is really a shame..

The Holocaust is so remembered in part because the person have a strong lobby in the western world and have made it a priority to educate the world about this part of their history and ensure it remains present in the public discourse. Who's representing people from Darfur, Bosnia, Rwanda, etc? Very few people, that's who.

Another reason is that most western countries had direct involvement in WWII Remember, lot of Americans soldiers witnessed the aftermath of Hitler's destructive tyranny first hand. How many Americans go to Africa? We just aren't as interested in those parts of the world. It's real shame

RJ Rummel would disagree that it is the forgotten holocaust. In fact, he considers it the second most studied.

You had a good and true post on genocides until you brought up Jewish lobby.

The massive murder of innocents anywhere is tragic. The shear magnitude, length of time, and mechanical precision of the holocaust keeps it in the public eye, not any lobby.

Sadly though, with time, more and more history classes have moved away from discussions of any of the holocausts. Todays students know less and less about any of them than any previously.

Both are horrific tragedies in world history but why should one outweigh the other.

I agree it is not discussed as frequently but it does not lessen the atrocities the person experienced at the hands of the Nazi regime.

I first learned about it from a few Armenian friends in high school, they would constantly torment this Turkish kid any chance they had strictly because of the Armenian genocide.

I felt bad for the kid, he obviously had nothing to do with it but they were relentless.

Stiln you have a lot of negative posts regarding person, just an observation.

But my point is Turkey still to this day does not recognize the Armenian genocide victims... Germany has apologized since then....back in the 70s.. actually..

However lastly, djbro and nutflopper, you can't deny the fact that NRA has a stronghold in the gun debate can you?? Just like you cannot deny the fact that AIPAC and other J ew lobby groups have a stronghold in foreign policy agendas..

I treated a patient once who served in in the army and went to somalia... Said that what went on Iraq (desert storm) was not as disturbing as what he saw there... He said that most people heard of somalia, but just have no idea how horrible is was there

Yeah it is interesting to hear their perspectives in these atypical parts of the world.

A lot of people neglect the entire nation of Africa.. We're too caught up funding other countries and helping out other continents...

Don't forget the Russians trying to exterminate the Ukrainians I got one Ukranian buddy who absolutely wants nothing to do with this Russian buddy both pretty nice guys can't seem to be in the same room together.
