In a time of high unemployment, government health care over-reach, the President claiming he can kill American citizens for merely being suspected of being terrorists, an out of control TSA, and approaching fiscal crisis, glad to see these bozos focused on the real issues:
Congressman Burton used this hearing to rehash a series of some of the most thoroughly discredited anti-vaccine positions of the past decade. Burton is a firm believer in the myth that vaccines cause autism, and he arrogantly holds the position that he knows the truth better than the thousands of scientists who have spent much of the past decade doing real science that proves him wrong.

First he claims that mercury from vaccines “accumulates in the brain”, a statement with no scientific support at all. Then he claims that chelation therapy is the solution – a radical, potentially very harmful treatment that no sensible parent would ever force on their child.

Various non-religious reasons..like how the toxic mixture is developed, the chemicals in the vaccines that are used to make it last longer, that most vaccines are given when the disease is not even currently active, that shooting dead animal cells into your body does not guarantee you will not catch the disease and can have serious side effects..
etc etc

More people died from the vaccination than from swine flu. ..the swine flu vaccine killed 25 people, and the flu killed one 61 yr.old woman in Ohio ...
Now there's a new strain of swine flu this year ...called H3N2 it's also caused by a pig-to-human transmission...maybe that council woman in Detroit might want to rethink asking for "bacon' from Obama ..when he visits the Motor City this coming Monday ..

Remember the H1N1- swine flu fiasco in 2009 ?

vaccines is thinking bigger picture when it comes to disease...
It is interesting to see this topic... when watching the GOP presidential candidates who were all given enough rope to seek out some way of figuring out how to hang themselves,
some would say that tea party candidate bachman did herself with her assumptions that vaccines cause mental retardation in girls with an onset in teens...
It seems like medical science is so detrimental for certain types of candidates...

You do realize WSC that you are in the extreme minority when it comes to consensus medical opinion about the efficiency of vaccines, right?
Does that make me in front of the curve or does it mean I am wrong?
I know I am in the minority..in fact when I was living in PA I had some doctor refuse to treat because he actually thought someone without vaccines would spread the condition more..

What don't you understand? What Burton said has no basis in fact or science what so ever.
That is the perspective of the author of that poorly written article. It reads like a crybaby who cannot debate a difference without making personal jabs.
I disagree that the views of Burton do not have basis in science, nor that blindly taking opinions of vaccinations being good is based on science either.
There is no guarantee that taking a vaccination means you will not still be affected, nor that there are not side effects..and injecting weakened animal cells into your body is what vaccines are, that is not an explained piece of information given to the public..nor that as darkhorse referenced in post 10, certain components of the "vaccine" have obvious potential and real side effects.

I was excited to see in post #10 that they add monosodium glutamate to the potion. I may ask my doctor if I can drink a dose rather than having it injected into me. I'll bet it tastes like wonton soup.

I dont believe in vaccinating, so what exactly is wrong about having an open discussion about this issue?
WSC, are you just blanket against all vaccinations, period? Or do you just think that they need to be re-examined and studied, so that their effiacy and safety concerns are addressed on all levels?
I think the topic is very worthy of debate and changes need to be made, but being flat out against it seems like an over-reaction.

I think as they currently are created and administered I am personally against vaccinations.
I am not telling everyone to share my POV, rather I replied that I am against them and think open discussion about them should be encouraged, not belittled (not saying you are doing that).
We are told to get vaccinated by an authority that has biases to forward that opinion..vaccinations are big money and I dont think most people understand where vaccines come from, what they are made of and the side effects that exist by taking them.
The public are sheep..they equate a vaccine with cure and that is positively inaccurate..but it keeps people buying them and not researching what is contained in them and the risks from taking them, the guarantees that do NOT exist from taking them.

I thought they did link a preservative in a certain vaccination with autism. That is what my DR said when we were discussing vaccines for my daughter. She said that there were links and the vaccine was recalled and re formulated.

Definitely makes you highly ill informed..
garbage I could make plenty of arguments why cellphones, microwaves and other appliances are detrimental to our well being.. Not the best analogy but Kapono is right and a lot of what you said really holds very little substantive value especially with regards to clinical trials and research....
