Republicans once again took a knife to a gunfight

It's just that simple.  I don't know if they will ever learn

Not true at all... Romeny was the most electable of the bunch.  He missed by a few points in key states - very winnable.  Romney needed to FIGHT early when he was being attacked.  They kept their powder dry to try to appear presidential, and it backfired.

It wasnt even that close..

Romney lost the general vote by a pretty big number and couldnt take Ohio and likely Florida.

Even with the mess Obama is in the middle of, a pompous stiff like Romney couldnt get it done.

mikael, congratulations for voting for the winner.  i can;t say that your vote was the deciiding vote since it was such a blowout but you made the winning decision.  let's meet back here in 2016 when you'll have another opportunity to win my wife's vote and you're choices are likely to be some acceptable but flawed democrat candidate and bozo the fuckin inbred clown on the republican side.

Mike Huckabee or Santorum would have made this closer at the least.  Santorum should have been the VP to lock down the evangelical apathy.  I'm doubting the evangelicals supported the "magic underwear" guy regardless what the polls show.  Their disdain for the LDS church came into play no doubt about it.

with huckabee, santorum or bob, the guy who jsut got admitted to the schizophrenia ward at riker's island, this would have been more of a blowout.  that's the wrong direction.  republicans need fewer nuts, not more.  will they figure it out?  i doubt it.

The GOP needs to break ties with unelected power holders like Grover Norquist.  People need to know the GOP isn't going to keep cutting revenues to the government in exchange for tax breaks to the rich.

The GOP mantra, "it's not a taxing problem, it's a spending problem", isn't holding water with state and local governments having to raise taxes and fees to cover the evaporating federal funds.  This puts more of a tax burden on the poor and middle class.

The GOP needs to be more moderate and willing to compromise.

The far right, anti-abortion, corporate deregulating, tax cutting party of the GOP, can't survive.  They can't keep attacking women rights and disparaging minorities.

They need to move to the center.  They need to be looking out for the US citizens first, put an end to vulture capitalism, outsourcing American jobs to other countries, and be more specific and honest with the public.

Why do you say that? At least we wouldnt be paying taxes for the lazy liberals that are going to ruin this country. At least businesses would strive and we would be working towards capitalism like this country should. Obama supports socialism and keeps putting down the "millionaires and billionares." And keeps saying its not fair and we need to spread the money out. Why should someone who makes more money pay more to people who sit on their behind? Why should anyone pay for someone elses down falls. Im from the hood and I know damn well that all these people who say it should be fair because they are broke wouldnt give a god damn dime if they were rich. Many businesses are going to get up and move. Why would they put money into their corporations and hire new people if there wont be a return. Only a fool would do that. I feel sorry for the hardworking class of America that has to pay more taxes because of the short commings of others.

It's clearly obvious that our country doesnt give a darn about the state of jobs and moving towards a capitalist society. Ayn Rand is going to raise out of her grave and haunt Mr Obama for the next 4 years. He needs to pick up one of her books and learn something.

Romney is ANTI-Capitalism.

You do not make 100M in Sep IRA accounts by following free market theory.

You gotta take care of the brown vote down the road or its simply over for the GOP.  Can't say it more clearly than that.

The misconception that the GOP is not the party of minorities and the underprividged is simply laughable.  GOP is behind the push for freedom and equal rights for minorities (mostly black) through the history of the USA.  Civil war times, early 1900's in womens voting, and more recently with the civil rights movement in the 60's.  In each case it was the GOP pushing the legislation, and Dems trying to block.

How history is rewritten is simply amazing.

That's the OLD Republican Party and should not be mistaken with the current one. Let just say they "earned" the label in past decade or so.

1. Romney's allergy to facts and truth (i.e. Chrysler stuff)
2. Akin, Murdoch et al and their big mouths (and Romney's unwillingness to stand up to them)
3. Sandy

Among many others.
