Politics are a great discussion because everyone has a vested interest in certain policies that affect them personally. Those that claim to be in the interest of the populus are full of garbage.
We support whatever benefits us as individuals until we don't have the freedom to choose anymore.

Socialism is the worst disease of all where the saviors of equality become the oppressors of invention and motivation.

Is this your methodology for diverting from the usual racial rhetoric you spew?

Getty....the loss of freedom worries me indeed. I believe it will happen incrementally under socialism, which I believe, is totalitarian in nature.

I was reading a little Sowell recently, and he mentioned that although idealogies differ dramatically, being rude and arrogant (and attacking people personally) is, in the end, a dead end street.

I've been guilty of bombastic (I like that word) rhetoric, and (after reading Sowell's comments) will can the sensationalism.

Socialism is a horrid disease, but is, and IMO, will always be a tempting fruit when put forth by a man as articulate as Obama.

In the end, when all is said and done, maybe 100 years from now, I think the majority of people will realize this and make the proper adjustments.

People are human, and buy the sales pitch of a utopia for all. Engendering class and economic resentment is, IMO, a method that communists have used and IMO, under various guises will always use, to sieze control over human lives.

Obama may win, but in the end, despite the propaganda in universities, and the ridiculous slogans and media dominance (have you seen the debate moderator line-up) common sense will prevail.

Monarchy, Oligarchy, Communism, Socialism et all, capitalism and individual freedom of choice is what will ultimately win out. Obama, despite his proclaimed adherrance to these principals, inherentl believes none of them.

Hell, Mr. Sowell has changed me from a curmudgeonly pessimist to a cautious optimist.

I know freedom is only a generation away from being lost, but I think we'll trimuph in the end.

Getty....my man !!!

DJ- Glen does have a very valid point.

Condescending, arrogant derogative posts directed to us members can be taken as very insulting and hurtful to whom  you might feel as your intellectual minion

But, I do appreciate and enjoy most of your interjections/particiaption  into everybody's threads

djbrow is simply attempting to bring the level of intellectualism in this forum upwards. It's sorely needed, given the consistent and extreme laziness in critical thought which permeates this forum. None of you would or could survive on a true political blog. You would be swiftly ignored and pushed aside with your asinine and juvenile commentary. Consider yourselves lucky to have a benign, high school level, sports internet forum at your disposal to dispense your nonsense.

Few(likely none) of the "offended" posters here could work for Bain or on Wall Street, though you adamantly defend their causes, interests and philosophies. They mock you. Believe me, I know. You are the 47% to them. Understand that concept and its implications. Though I doubt you will or can.

It's just easier to be fast and furious against the Kenyan born, Marxist, socialist, Muslim, American-hating, Arab groveling, health care commanding, gun-taking, abortion loving, tax hiking, trip spending, incompetent douche Obama than to understand who truly is against your own interests.

Carry on.

Talk about asinine!   I'll be here for the Ryan/Biden debate.   Same result but even more humiliating.  Try to actually have some valid points next time beyond those straw men.

DJ, and here I was being civil.   I guess you left out my oversized genitals out of respect though.

Notice not one of these so-called 'Libertarian Republicans' answered this musing....

It is funny, though, watching the fake libertarians go goo-goo and ga-ga for Romney, considering his potential court appointees and middle east policies are the antithesis of libertarianism.

Nah. I came for the sports betting talk. Specifically the NBA forum. Enjoy jivin' in that forum quite a bit. Some actual useful knowledge in there.

Just happened to recently start perusing some of the outlandish musings in this political forum and chimed in. That's it. Politics is an emotionally laden beast, as we all can concur. You are entitled to your own beliefs.
Educated, civilized political discourse is in short supply here though. It's quite clear to me. Go elsewhere and you might just be surprised at the level of discussion and courtesy extended by mature participants, regardless of their ideology.

I find it highly strange that a physician needs to blatantly shout his professional credentials, IQ and 1982 SAT prowess on a sports internet forum subsection.

You da man, no doubt!

Crusher, you lost any claim to "maturity" or reasonable political discourse with the following posts:

"It blows my mind to pieces that actual GAMBLERS much less voters would actually wager or even vote for a socialist such as the current failing  POTUS (with his foolish sidekick Joe B) opposed to two highly qualified bona fide leaders who believe in a free market economy who try and confront reality head on

I have faith the the electorate is not this STUPID, but the posters at this site daily reaffirm how delusional this society has actually stooped to"

"I thought the "annointed one" was going to make the oceans rise, save the earth,  and we would all be singing "kumbaya"

Mellow, your "immaturirty" is on full display here as that post tells the TRUTH. Let's see you defend what I posted as not being the truth

Besides, Wasn't Plugs yesterday coming out and admitting that"they" are going to raise taxes by One trillion

i am sure "if you want"  to research farther you will find many more posts where I show much more moments of poor "thoughtmanship"  or "immaturity" than above

Wolf I was just trying to needle DJ a little when "another" opportunity arised which I feel was warranted. His responses are very condescending (which i don't expect a Covers MOD to partake in)  at times, which  I can be guilty of the same as you too I really enjoy his posts despite disagreeing with his opinions.

Get over it

Wow. Am I supposed to be fearful and intimidated for making innocuous comments on an internet forum? Is that your intent?
Is this mature, rational or appropriate behavior on any level? Especially for an M.D.

You are revealing your true character. Scary.

I'm not sure how to label you from the DSM-IV. Axis II is in play. Covetous antisocial or reputation defending antisocial perhaps?

Good day.

Antisocial tendencies with gambling addiction and a propensity to wipe the floor with people in an old life.  I was a hockey player so it fits just perfect.  The fact is, you're an fool and you act is if you weren't trying to provoke me.  good day to you too.
