I live here in Vegas. You CAN'T bet on the presidential election! We couldn't even bet on the Olympics. But you CAN bet on UNLV games and go to the game. So far, UNLV is 2-0 against the spread.
Late in the game, as we are losing, we chant: WE DON'T CARE THAT WE ARE DEAD, WE JUST WANT TO BEAT THE SPREAD!

I wish I knew somewhere to bet on Obama. I'd bet 10,000..
Oh, I just had a thought... Maybe I could contact Myth Robney, since he likes betting 10K.. Do you think he'd bet on himself at this point ? LOL

Does anyone live in Vegas that can confirm or deny the posting of presidential odds?
I live in Las Vegas and BOTH promark12 and depeche2 are correct. NO betting on political contests in Nevada. you have to go offshore.

During the Olympics, I spoke to a couple of Vegas sportsbook directors. They told me that they are NOT allowed to bet on amateur events such as the Olympics.
Two problems here: Serena Williams and others are hardly amateurs. And we are allowed to bet on College football, basketball and baseball.
They told me the college sports were the only exception to the rule.
The truth be told, Vegas books are way behind the times when it comes to sports offered, types of wagers offered (teasers, score in the first inning etc.) However, the joy of collecting in cash right after the event is over is outstanding, no waiting for withdrawal approval, or a check, etc.
When you hear you can bet on anything in Vegas, that's not true.
By far the best books in Vegas are the Cantor books at the:
Tropicana (my favorite book, because it's only a 3-minute walk to the MGM book and a 5-minute walk to the Hooters book, where you can shop around). Cantor books can also be found at the Venetian and Cosmopolitan Hotels. These books are designed for the sports and race bettor in mind. Lots of great video screens and great gadgets like being able to bet at your seat and betting on the next pitch a ball or strike. For horse players, every seat has access to the WIN, PLACE and SHOW pools.
Cesars Entertainment books are the only books where you can cash your sports ticket at any Cesars property. So if you bought your ticket at the Flamingo, you can cash it at Planet Hollywood.
MGM: WHAT A WASTE OF TIME! MGM properties offer 20-cent baseball lines. If you stay at one of these properties, you get hidden "Resort Fees". MGM, Mandalay Bay, Luxor, Excalibur, New York New York, Monte Carlo, Bellagio and Mirage, they are out to screw you.

that may have been their "excuse" BUT the word I got was the Salt Lake City Olympic committee made "NO betting in Nevada" a selling point to the International who are always "all atwitter" about "their integrity" and they have just kept the rule it in place. USED to be you just could NOT bet Olympic sports that had "a judges decision" like Gymnastics or Figure Skating BUT games like Hockey or Basketball were OK.
really pisses me off too. ![]()
btw, BEST book overall to book at, even though it's old and smelly, is STILL the Las Vegas Hotel (former Hilton) Superbook. one of the BEST places to watch AND play on a football weekend is the South Point which is WAY South on Las Vegas boulevard

Venetian/Sands IMO is the finest hotel in Vegas. Tropicana is the best mid-grade hotel.
IF you drive in from Cali or have a rental car while here, check out Green Valley Ranch off the I-215 in Henderson. it's one of the local casinos the Mrs and I go to all the time along with South Point on Las Vegas boulevard south. GVR reminds me of old 1970's "resorts"
BOTH are more "laid back" than the Strip casinos. I would rate the South Point as one of the better places to watch the games on a football weekend. ![]()
