Is there any group of people less tolerant on this planet than devout religious people

Yes. The modern left.

Not saying this guy deserves to be shot for anything he did. But far more and worse atrocities have been committed in the name of God(any God to be more specific) than almost any other organization.

That would be false.

More people have been tortured & killed by Communists than any other group.

You continue to carpet bomb threads with these silly comments.

But please, point out anything I said that is factually untrue.

I can't wait to read all about it.

I disagree with your last statement 14. It's the author's job to clearly express their point to the reader. I'm not trying to be difficult or take sides here but cd has a point.

Your first post in this thread could be interpreted in numerous different ways.

I'm sorry. Let me clarify. The people who preach "tolerance" and "hate is not a family value" are hypocrites and liars.

Those hypocrites & liars are the political left.

Where are all the calls for "civility" after this shooting?

Remember, these are the same people who rush to blame the Tea Party for any shooting or act of violence.

Now, they are strangely silent. Gee, what does that say?

The modern left doesn't believe that not adhering to the bible and all its fairy tales will result in eternal damnation and burning in hell. That would be the religious right. Ever hear Pat Robertson, John Hagee, or Ray Comfort speak? According to them 70% of the world is destined for hell. That doesn't sound very tolerant to me.

Conversely, according Islam 70% of the world is destined for hell also.....and it could result in getting your head chopped off on video as well.

And please source for me where you get your statistics that Communism has killed more people through out history than religion.

They are not trying to silence anybody.

They also pray for the people they believe are sinners.

It actually sounds a lot like tolerance to me. The people at FRC prayed for this shooter outside the building on Wednesday.

And please source for me where you get your statistics that Communism has killed more people through out history than religion.

Stalin killed an estimated 20 million.

No religion anywhere attempted to kill that many people.

Note: a religious organization is different than a nut claiming he or she acts in the name of religion.

Note II: Mao likely killed more than Stalin.

No, the hypocrites and liars are not just on the political left. They encompass the whole political spectrum.

Those calls for civility after this shooting are probably in the same spot where the calls for civility are after an abortion clinic is bombed or doctor is shot. It's not the political left that committed those crimes.

No, the hypocrites and liars are not just on the political left. They encompass the whole political spectrum.

The left has institutionalized hypocrisy as a virtue. Nobody within that political movement has the slightest interest in rooting it out, or really caring.

There are instances of hypocrisy on the right. However, Republicans kick people out of office & their party, the D's rarely do so.

If religion is so tolerant of people than why does it try to conform people to its beliefs? Why does it condemn non-believers of their religion to the worst possible result in their minds? Why can't religion just let people live how they want to live and believe what they want to believe? I don't have happy people or atheist knocking on my door trying to covert me to their beliefs. But I sure do get religious people trying to covert me.

That doesn't sound like tolerance to me.

I could spot you 100 million on the Communist death toll and I feel real confident that more people have been killed in the name of religion than that. Religion did have a head start time wise though. Crusades anyone?

You could, but you'd be completely and utterly wrong. Death toll estimates for the crusades are between 1-5 million.

By the way, don't you find it the least bit instructive that you reference for religions killing people is from the 13th century and my examples run from less than 100 years ago to the present?

Don't blame me because you chose an institution that has been around for 100 years.

People have been killing in the name of organized religion through out history all over the world. It is the most intolerable organization(s) in the history of mankind.

Just read Golberg's book "the Tyranny of Cliches"  and he talks about the Crusades.

Kind of off topic, but I found it pretty interesting.  He has some good cited work, and fairly respected scholars that back up his assertions here.

Might be interesting to look at the excerpt that paints the christian bashing over the crusades as a mis-representation of the history of the Crusades.

Crusades.

Also,  Organized Governments have killed more people than any institution known to man.

I would take a bet (not knowing the facts).

That the united states government has killed more people than Christianity.

I would say that Islam alone is responsible for more deaths than Communism.

http://www.politicalislam.com/blog/tears-of-jihad/

I would agree that organized government is responsible for more deaths than any other institution. But I would also say that many organized governments were based or formed around religious beliefs.

I agree governments wear many masks to sell killing on their citizens.
The Humanitarian aide mask we put on for Libya was another example.

I think you should ask soon to be former Senator person Lugar about it.

You should also ask soon to be former Representative Cliff Stearns about it too.

Why do you bother?

By the way, the in last 3 days, the left has:

-Rushed the stage Ryan was speaking on hysterically screaming
- Punched a Romney campaign volunteer
- Spit on a Romney campaign volunteer
