in banking terms?  Serious question.  Trade revenue was down, while profits were up?

That means trading profits for the banks.

Profits were up because banks placed less in loan loss allowances than in previous quarters..

thanks Wallstreetcapper,

I hoped you'd reply.

but what are they trading?  currency? or does it refer to trade, like commodities or trade shares?  I'm obviously completely ignorant when it comes to finance jargon.

I'll google to, but any help is appreciated.

thx. apparantly there is some concern as to Obama's regulations interefereing with this form of banking revenue?  Do you believe that's accurate or more of a ploy by the financial industry?  I mean, I guess I don't see exactly how regulation would limit their trade revenue, unless the new laws are designed for that very thing.
