I think that I enjoyed part one so much because it was filled with factual content much like a documentary. Most docu-dramas that I've seen seemed to be loosely based on historical facts unlike what The H&M appears to be. |

Yeah, when someone told me about the mini series they sent me the Wiki page re: the feud. Part one hit on alot of the points that I read

#10 Posted: 5/30/2012 11:33:43 AM I have been enjoying it as well. I knew most of the history of this whole feud and I think they are representing the facts(or at least what was known) rather well.

I'm laying a lot down on Paxton. |

#13 Posted: 5/30/2012 9:00:39 PM They packed an incredible amount of action into the first four hours. I'm sure that the final two hours will be full of thrills as well. |

didn't start over the pig BUT defiantely inflamed it.
watched parts 1 and 2 with the Mrs last night. I thought the acting and depiction of the feud history was excellent. the Mrs not so much. I think she was looking for more of a hillbilly "Romeo & Juliet" style love story
one complaint we BOTH had was the "mumbled dialog". you couldn't understand what the actors were saying half the time. more damn "arty-smarty" modern sound recording |

#17 Posted: 6/1/2012 6:10:06 PM I liked it a lot. Some of the previous posters brought up some good points though. The dialogue was very hard to understand. At first I thought it was just me but I had to keep turning the volume up. I thought Parts 1 and 2 were better than the finale. Part 3 just seemed to drag a little bit and was a bit boring at times.
I thought Hatfields son, Johnnsy, was outstanding as was one of McCoy's daughter played by Jena Malone who I think is absolutely gorgeous. The Pinkerton guy who was hunting the Hatfields was outstanding as well. |

#19 Posted: 6/3/2012 3:49:54 AM agree with the assessment of part 3. seemed to somewhat "plod". also glad to hear that other could NOT hear some of the dialog. I'm old and thought I was just going deaf.
still, all in all, I would give it with minor flaws. much better done compared to some "historic" movies I have seen recently
and speaking of well acted historic movies, catch The Conspirator (2010) when it's on a movie channel or put it on your Netfix list. ref: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Conspirator |

Devil Anse couldn't hold a candle to Jim Vance for pure murderous evil. only character in the story even MORE evil than Vance was "Bad" Frank Phillips. Kevin Costner, Tom Berenger and Andrew Howard were ALL excellent in their respective roles. |

Whatever bad Frank Phillips did in his life, is all forgiven for killing that monster, Jim Vance and ridding the world of his evil presence.

#24 Posted: 6/5/2012 10:23:28 AM Phillips steps up raids; Bad Jim Vance killedOne member of the Hatfield faction accused of participating in the
slaughter at McCoy's cabin was Ellison Mounts, known to area residents
as 'Cottontop.'
His mother's husband was Daniel Mounts, a member
of a prominent area family, but everyone suspected 'Cotton-top' was the
product of a romantic dalliance between two cousins, Harriet Hatfield
and Ellison Hatfield. ( Incest and West Virginia..... again..lol)
As is sometimes the case of the offspring
of cousins, Cottontop was considered slow of thought and easily
influenced. Whether or not he suffered a deficiency, there was little
doubt he sought approval from his peers, and perhaps that lead him into
trouble.

that was pretty obvious when the Hatfields lead by Jim Vance raided Randall McCoy's cabin in part 3 and Cottontop shoots the McCoy daughter for no damn reason. he was SO damn dumb I don't think he knew what would happen to him when he was sentenced to hang |
