#1 Posted: 3/14/2012 10:42:39 PM The early word is 3 or 4 horses had already died and HBO decided to pull the plug before the garbage really hit the fan.

#6 Posted: 3/15/2012 6:13:07 AM Hmm HBO cancelling one of their prestige projects. I wonder if it was the ratings or the horses that died.

#9 Posted: 3/15/2012 12:48:28 PM didn't think it was THAT bad of a plotline esp the part about the four "degenerates" trying to be "players". thought the acting was pretty good. |

#10 Posted: 3/15/2012 1:03:34 PM The show was ok but so unbelievably slow. It was just starting to get interesting with the Isreal incident too. How could this show miss with such an all star cast? |

#13 Posted: 3/16/2012 12:16:17 AM I've watched 4 episodes and enjoy the show. The only drawback I see is it's so hard to hear the dialogue. Between the trainers accent the guy that speaks goofy as it is & Nolte mumbling it did get irritating.
Overall, the show has many interesting plot lines.
And BMA, I've never respect the opinion of anyone that uses the term "rubbish". Either it sucks or it don't, I didn't think so. I didn't like The Sopranos after 1 or 2 shows very much or Deadwood for that matter. Many of the shows I like never started off immediately pulling you in, it might take a few shows. |

seems to me that ALL these so called "movie companies" are "arty-smarty" with their sound recordings now days. half the damn movies I see on HBO and other "premium" channels are tough to understand. I actually think the more "tech" they get with the sound recording, the WORSE they are. |

#15 Posted: 3/16/2012 10:05:20 PM Knocked out episode 5 last night. Now we know about the horse casualties, it's easy to see why. The track action is intense, it gives you the sensation your in the race. I read previously how difficult it is to pull off the illusion of real racing. The actors did an awesome job on this project, it's a shame so many involved will be out of work due to the plug being pulled on this series, I believe it had great potential.
Must be a huge disappointment to put all the time necessary to create a series like this and have it all go away overnight. |

Do you work for PETA? Accidental deaths and killing animals are quite different?
Horses die on racetracks EVERYDAY in America. Everything that lives dies also if you haven't noticed. It's not like they were out there torturing animals (Vick) for some sick twisted fetish.
If you don't work for PETA, perhaps they'd like to talk with you. |

#19 Posted: 3/17/2012 4:32:41 PM I've watched every episode. I don't really care it's getting cancelled. There are some cool scenes, but for the most part it's kinda boring |

#21 Posted: 3/19/2012 11:50:55 PM 2 episodes remain. Show had some great potential. Many story lines that were developing nicely. It had Michael Mann's fingerprints all over it. Very disappointed that it's finished. |
