There is nothing else on tv even in the same ballpark as Game of Thrones, IMO.

To anyone that enjoys great television I recommend watching the first episode.  You’ll almost certainly be hooked.

Season 1 trailer

Season 2 trailer  (I wouldn’t advise watching this one until you’ve watched the first season)

First season was very entertaining.

I was shocked to see the main catalysts killed off. I will certainly bewatching season 2.

Just bought the book.........by Ken Follett at a garage sale. Looking forward to it.

I wish it was starting this weekend as well, but at least we only have to wait about 9 months in between seasons.

People reading the books have to wait half a decade.

I don't know shooter. I watch, I enjoy but enjoy watching other stuff before putting this on. Feels WAY to childish to me. It's a wanna be Lord of the rings. Nothing more. I trust they can pick it up this season. Really need to see the white walkers.

First off, I have no idea how anyone could watch the show and think its “WAY to childish.”  Secondly, Lord of the Rings was 3 long movies about people walking to a volcano.  Game of Thrones is at least 10 times more complex and is in no way shape or form a wannabe LoTR.

There’s a reason that out of over a 100,000 votes Game of Thrones has a 9.4/10 rating on imdb.com with no show on tv having a better rating (IIRC).  Hell, it even has a higher rating than The Sopranos.

But hey, it’s not for everyone. Although the only person I’ve recommended the show to that didn’t love it was my friend’s GF whose favorite show is Jersey Shore.

Season two looks good. But the action REALLY needs to pick up. Can't believe it got that many great reviews. Only good actor on it is the midget.

As far as the childish stuff...

I guess I should have phrased it more as the fantasy stuff not childish. It does have lots of adult issues and nudity but still i was very meh....

The dragons with that girl? Lame!
The kid comes to power? Lame! What a brat!
The best actor (other then the little person) dies already? Lame!
The LOSERS fighting at the wall. Or should I say training. Yeah that fat one is going to do something. Lame!!!
Not seeing any walkers. Lame!
0 ACTION BATTLES!!!!! Not even one? They etter be coming! LAME!!!!!

Only found the walkers stuff interesting yet they don't get into that. At least yet. As an onlooker never reading the books it was an incredible stretch for me. Way to kiddie or more like a dorky series. Also those high reviews were probably people that sit at home and play warcraft all day. Me and my friends watched and made it part of our sunday night HBO sked but none were that impresdsed

Sounds like almost all of your criticism is based on bashing a fantasy show for being a fantasy show and bashing a tv show for staying pretty close to the source material.

Watching a fantasy show and then bitching about it being a fantasy show is pretty ridiculous.  I mean would a person watch porn and then girl about the nudity and sex?

This an HBO show.  They don’t have a 9 figure movie budget.

The high reviews were from “people that sit at home and play warcraft all day”?  Yes, everyone that has a different opinion than you is a loser.  What was that you were saying about “childish stuff”?

Like I said: imdb.com is a pretty good indicator of how good or bad a tv show or movie is.  With over 100,000 votes Game of Thrones has a 9.4/10 rating (no tv show has ever had a higher rating, IIRC).  But hey, I’m sure all those 10’s and 9’s were by losers who sit at home and play warcraft all day while the lower reviews were by rock stars that date super models, right?

There is no way normal people that aren't looking for some mysterious warcraft fantasy would vote this that high! I was almost laughs at by my woman trying to get her to watch. The WHOLE season i was waiting for something big to come that never did. They did a GREAT job hyping this show up like it would be epic or at least gives us something close to LOTR.

It was my mistake for watching this thinking it would bring at least a little realism. HBO has the budget dude. You are a fool to think otherwise. Certainly not nine figures but to not have ONE battle scene or something that seemed epic is pathetic. All talk. And I love drama too! I'm not some typical guy that loves action. Far from it. This show lacked a lot! Only cool storylines were kid being tosssed out window by princeboy (such a person) and the little person's amazing acting. I bet your favourite part was the 10yr old kid sucking on his mom tits :)

I just expected more. This season I think it can be much better but for all the hype around this show it was not good at all!!! Average at best!

Here are my top 5 shows of all-time if you want to know where I'm coming from in terms of appeal. I would say almost all my friends and most of the people I talk to about this show feel the same way. Except for our one buddy (Used to love warcraft not anymore cause adult lfe hit) that hosts the Thrones night.

1. Sopranos
2. Spartacus
3. The Wire
4. Entourage
5. Dexter

BOOM! Now those are shows worthy of that hig rank. Game of Thrones LOL. Get the darn outta here with that. At least season one. All hype!!

Ps. Tebow went for a lot didn't he LOL!!!

Oh forgot Boardwalk empire as well! First season was a little slow but man did that show pick up!!! Hoping same happens then with this show. Although i guess all the kiddies that read these books know what will happen. OOOO Walking dead is great as well. Beats this stuff!

I'm not a fan of typical fantasy but I love this show so that proves your theory wrong right there.

The fact that you think the boy was thrown out of the window by "princeboy" shows you weren't paying attention considering that was a major event. Interesting though that you were paying attention to the "10 year old kid sucking on his mom's tits." Hmm...

So you really think the show had enough budget to spare to have a huge epic battle scene and they simply chose not to? If you want to see a fool you need only look in a mirror.

The fact that entourage is one of your top 5 shows of all time is pretty telling. It's little wonder you don't like Game of Thrones. Perhaps Jersey Shore would be more to your liking.

What the hell does any of this have to do with Tim Tebow?

I'm the exact opposite on Boardwalk. I thought the first season was great but the second season was so bad I might not even bother watching the third.

The Walking Dead is probably my second favorite show right now. I thought the first season started out great, but got worse towards the end and that the second season was the exact opposite.

I must admit I do find it interesting that you think "all the kiddies" read 800+ page New York Times best sellers. Does that mean "all the adults" watch shows like Entourage?

Entourage that bad? Haha you're right that is quite telling of you. I can understand if you are judging by the last couple seasons but overall?!? Come on shooter! What are you talking about the boy being pushed out the window was overlooked by me? I clearly said that was one if the cool parts and storylines. Go back to fantasy land! Make sure you go get front row seats to hunger games too!!!

Tebow was brought up since the recent trade. WTF else wouldn't say it? You damn well why that was put in there! Well what do you think about the tebow being traded for those picks?

The main reason I came into this was seeing the original post. You saying nothing is in the same ball park as this show. Hahahaha wow that is a foolish statement!

Entourage was pretty entertaining the first few seasons, but once they started having women write "the ultimate guy show" it became unwatchable.

You said the kid was thrown out the window by the "princeboy." That never happened. Considering that was a major event that was mentioned multiple times you either weren't paying attention, missed more than one episode, or just have a terrible memory.

This is a thread about an HBO drama in the movie/tv forum? Why do you keep ranting about Tim Tebow. If you have such a hard on for discussing Tebow take your obsession to the NFL forum. There are probably plenty of guys there that will discuss him with you.

No, what I said was there is nothing in the same ballpark, IMO. Apparently you don't know what "IMO" stands for so I'll tell you. It stands for "in my opinion."

It is MY OPINION that there is no show on tv close to as good as Game of Thrones.

You do know the difference between stating something as fact and stating something as opinion, right? Or do I presume too much?
