I dont get it. So why did Hershel lead them to an endless search if Sophia was in the barn all along?

And it would make absolutely no sense if they never knew she in there in the 1st place.

Other than the last 6 minutes the episode was pretty boring.

Season 1 was far better and exciting.

season 2 6/10

this whole show is boring. just one giant soap opera with a couple zombies here and there. whoop de do so they had a bit of target practice on the barn walkers. big friggin deal. they spent what 8 episodes looking for a girl you already knew was a zombie. everything on that show is predictable and ho hum. and just how long can all these zombies keep walking around until their dead behind bodies fall apart anyway?

they mentioned this last night. If you remember they said Otis took care of the wrangling up of the walkers. Well he shot the kid and then was killed by Shane before any mention of them looking for the little girl. If Otis hadn't been killed he might have been able to tell them he found Sophia.

I think they will get into this further when the show picks up. My guess is that Herschel didn't know the little girl was Sophia. Think about it, most likly 95% + of the population is walkers, most likly he just thought this was another girl. Another reason he might not have told them (even if he knew Sophia was a Walker) was he didn't want them to know Walkers were in the barn at all, as they didnt find out till the last episode

Dude if you want a zombie bloodbath go watch the other 500 shows and movies that have zombies being slaughtered every 30 seconds.

This show has great characters, great depth and great storyline. Not sure what else you can really ask for out of a tv show. Like I said if you want a zombie bloodbath go watch Dawn of the Dead or Resident Evil. This show has much more substance than that.

By the way Shane is a BADASS character, that dude is capable of doing anything at anytime. Not sure how thats boring

not so much that it should be a giant zombie bloodbath but these guy should be out cleansing their world/area and starting up a fresh new zombie proof home for all the humans left. not running around hiding and whining about all their problems, and making new ones. the time for all the 'substance' should be after they complete the task at hand, and that is to gather all the supplies they need and fortify a shelter. these people act about as smart as their competition, a mindless friggin zombie. this show had a chance to be good, but has become a mindnumbingly predictable soap opera.

I disagree but see your point. They have only been at the farm for roughly 2 weeks and it isn't even their land to do what they want. I really thought Shane was going to pull a gun on Herschel and demand he let them stay.

I think I like this show so much because of the humn aspect of it. The difference between Shane and Rick is enormous and I think that is intriguing. The only character I don't like is Ricks wife, she seems like a stuck up girl.

One of my favorite movie is the movie "Signs" All of my friends make fun of me because there is no Aliens in like the entire movie. I guess I like and respect the human aspect of things more than others do.

The old dude is keeping people in the barn because he views them as "sick" not "dead'

They are also members of his family, some of them anywa/

Stupid idea, even if my brother became a walker I would not hesitate to put a ice-pick in his head.

Gotta survive, adapt or die.

I think he absolutely knew it was her.. Thats why they showed the scene where the walkers get loose, thats why he kept insisting they leave as soon as they can.. He was responsible for the girl being bit and he didnt want them to know about anything..

It seems he tried to keep his family members that turned walkers locked up and anytime they got loose and bit someone he took them in as well.. The man was out of his mind..

How do you think that Herschel was responsible?

I think the scene where Herschel, Rick and that young kid captured the Walkers by their neck with that rope those were just random walkers that He knew that lived near him.

Are you trying to say that the people they captured with the rope were Walkers that escaped from the barn.

How would they escape if the barn was secure? If two walkeres escaped wouldn't they all have escaped?

You could very well be right but I didn't think any of the walkers had escaped the barn.

I think the only way Herschel knew that little girl was Sophia would be that they were looking for alittle girl, and Herschel had just found a little girl Walker by herself, and he assumed it was the girl Rick and his group were looking for.

You are right Kobe, Herschel did know Sophia was a Walker.

I just watched episode 4 again and near the beginning they are all standing around looking at a map.

Shane Says " What happens if we find Sophia and she is bit."

Rick Says " We gotta do whatever is neccesary"

Maggie says "What do we tell her mother"

someone else says "the truth."

Herschel then looks at Maggie and shakes his head NO.

This is a clear indication to me that Herschel knows Sophia is a walker. I still haven't seen anything that tells me the Walkers escaped from the barn though.

hopefully things don't end for Shane like they did in the comic book...we have already past the point where it should have happened so they likely have changed that part of it

This was covered on Talking Dead after the mid-season finale by executive producer Robert Kirkman. I see you guys continue to discuss this, but I would imagine the EP would know what was meant to be interpreted as what happened.

I guess i just made an assumption.. In the scene before Hershel goes and ask for Ricks help and Ricks help only, the kid comes into the room where Hershel and his daughter are talking and says "It happened again.." They go get Rick and the snatch up the walkers.. I assumed by "it happened" he mean they got out..

And going back to the walker in the well, probably over analyzing but I thought that was the first indication there were walkers on the premises and they were having trouble containing them..

Jarrett I have not watched The Talking Dead, if that is what the EP said then there you have it.. I do not remember that specific detail, and it makes sense that he died so this could be stretched out as long as possible.. haha..

this show has legs still, it was never going to be a gorefest, the sheriffs wife will have the baby, shane will lose the plot bigtime at some point, hescherl will catch his daughter giving it away,a wave of zombies will attack the farmhouse,
looking forward to the rest of season 2

Yeah you could be right, but I'm pretty sure when the kid comes in and says "It happened again" He just means that Walkers from nearby have gotten stuck in the river.

Remember when Herschel is talking to Rick about his dad, he says at one point in his life he hadn't seen the farm in many years. This lead me to believe Herschels family owned the farm for a long time and prolly knew all the surrounding families. Also, when Maggie is talking to Herschel about letting the group stay, Herschel says there are plenty of farms in the area and Maggie replies they are all burned or filled with Walkers. I'm pretty sure the Walkers didn't escape because the only entrance was the one up top, and if two Walkers escaped, they all prolly would have. I could be wrong though.

@Mr Bollox - I am looking forward to the rest of season too also (obviously) I really was hoping that Shane would pull a gun on Herschel and demand he let them stay, as this is something Shanes character would do. If Shane did this, what would Herschel do? How would he make them leave? If Herschel won't kill a Walker, there is NO WAY he would kill a human being. I think it would be badass if Shane killed Herschel and the group took over the farm. Just something that would be sick that could possibly happen.

Very slow/boring second season so far - though the last episode made me want to see more... Would have dropped the series if not for the last one.

OK So I just started this show, ripped through the 5 episdoes in one sitting, totally addcited.

One question, when the hell do we find out how this all started, or do we find out at all?

Great show, just keeps me wondering in the back of my head

I think they'll get to that as the show moves forward, via flashback
