For those of you who don't know this guy...he was posted by his Japanese team last season and the Athletics made a big of $19.1 million for him but were unable to sign him. Due to the posting rules, he returned to his Japanese team and played there last season, and he was allowed to be a free agent this season for anyone to sign.

They signed him to a 1 year, $1.5 million contract with $3.4 million in incentives based on starts and innings pitched.

I will spin this thread into being in the right forum...

There are actual packages for people in Japan to get airfare, hotel and tickets to the game/s....

So it is profitable to city and tourism to have these players from Japan come to Seattle... I have heard some people say that the pacific NW is more hospitable in terms of climate and temperature then California for people from Japan.

I have seen about dozen Ichiro games at safeco...

and they have sushi in the concession stands... there is an sushi called the IchiRoll...

perhaps there will be a hiSushi Iwakuma roll...
