I've kinda figured out how to update for 2013, but for some reason, on a few of these, Detroit seems to be screwing up the whole process, I've tried for hours trying to figure it out.  Any quick ideas DeGen?  Off the top of my head, MLB Super Systems in post #17 is screwed up by Detroit, The others I don't recall as I just deleted them.

MLB Super Systems 2013 Spreadsheet

Hi guys.  Your friendly neighborhood Leprechaun here.  I had to take last year off for family reasons but I still spend plenty of time in the forums.  Love the work you did here last year Degen.  I'm also quite handy with excel and VBA and I automate my systems much like you have here.  I haven't decided if I'll post regularly yet this year, but I'm here in this forum pretty much everyday and hopefully at the very least I can help out with spreadsheets and system ideas.

I've fixed the standings bug (and another bug on the sagarin rating page) and updated Degens spreadsheet for 2013.  It should be working exactly as it did last year.  Here's the link for you guys:

https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B0Yh1Uhbf7eHRW5wSXZ5V3JZTlU/edit?usp=sharing

I'll be working on more stuff in the coming weeks.  Anybody who remembers me on here knows I'm a numbers man, but they also know I don't start any MLB systems until May while I gather data and let the teams settle in for the season.  Hopefully I can get my system going again and actually make it successful.  Good luck to all.

DeGen, under STRK, I don't believe that's the correct stat as I noticed for today (Apr 29th) that both Cle and KC had winning streaks of 3 games, and they split a doubleheader yesterday in KC.  Also, today, under RPI PLAY, 3 teams are highlighted in blue and one isn't...what does this mean, please?

Does the Bet Tracker update itself or is that for manual tracking purposes?

Degen, on the RPI and Underdog system spreadsheets, when I update todays lines, every line is blank. Just waiting for lines to be posted or is something broken?

The Streak Finder (post #23...which I updated myself for 2013) and Leprechaun's updated supersystem's updated fine.  Those 2, however, have different formats then RPI, Under Dog, and Ciscos (These 3 have the same format)

On vacation this week - so probably won't be able to fix this till I get back - but I think Donbest updated their website that broke the odds column - if you change the range from E to F that should fix it - but again I probably won't be able to upload a new file till later

Leprechaun....The last day or two, on the play/system areas on the summary tab, I keep getting #VALUE! on one of the team lines, specifically, on today's...Mets vs Braves.....it's on Sys 1, 3, 4, 6, and 7.  Any idea or sometimes it happens?

Buckeye-

I see what the problem is.  The code for creating the standings page is not quite optimized.  I just saw this post as I'm heading out of the house for a few hours, but I will clean this up for good tonight and post a new spreadsheet.

So I saw the posts about the Buddha system and it's not that hard to automate the whole thing - but it can't be back tested since sagarin ratings are not archived - BUT if someone is willing to go through the effort of maintaining a thread and tracking the results for the season - I would be willing to provide an automated spreadsheet.

Problem is fixed...use the same link above. I cleared out a few other unnoticeable bugs including the nag screen when you save.  The first time you use this you have to update the data before you update the schedule.  Note that the plays may have been off the last couple days.  If you have any other issues, just post them here and I'll fix them.  Hope this week goes well for all!!

Thanx, Leprechaun, works great>

What's the Buddha system?  I'm already tracking The UnderDog system (flat bet and chase), SuperSystems, RPI, Streak Saver, plus one I read about with TeamRankings.com Home/Away power rankings.  That and trying to back test the TR^^ system.

That is ^^^ if no one is willing to step up to the plate, I guess I can do it, if the spreadsheet for Buddha is like the others.

Buckeye,

Don't agree until you are sure you believe in the methodology of the system

https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B5dydT9Oe6JbTTZjU1JYbFhtRFk/edit?usp=sharing

I uploaded a file that has the system details all in one document and the URL's of the original threads on Covers.

The system is based on Sagarin Ratings, which makes it difficult to backtest since they are not archived and the math involved to calculate Predicted ERA, MOB and RICKEY is highly advanced - so to recreate the formulas in excel may be difficult - but that being said - if someone does know how to calculate those 3 things then this system can be backtested.  (but I doubt it)

So if this cannot be backtested - the only option is to test for the season.

The premise of the system is to look at the results of like situations using Starting Pitcher Stats and Odds.  The author uses the theory that in the same situation similar teams will perform the same (i.e Win or Lose)

He uses the Sagarin Stats to come up with a Composite Score for both pitchers and classifies the FAV team as Low, Med, High Fav. and records the result of the game (Win or Loss).  He builds a DB of these type of games until he has a enough games to use to predict the outcome of a game with similar numbers.

Example:

Outcome: WIN

Favorite Type: HIGH

Dog Pitcher Score: 40

Home Pitcher Score 50

Let's say the above situtation has come up 5 times and all resulted in a WIN for the home favorite and a game comes up that has the exact same numbers.  He would bet on the Favorite - since in those situations - it has yielded a high win rate.  (100% to be exact)

Now I have no idea if this works or not.  The premise is interesting - and it sounds logical.  Does it work? No freakin' clue.  Would like to know if it works?  Defintely.  Do I have the time to run a thread and track the results with all the other projects on my plate?  Unfortunately no.

So before you jump in and say you are willing to track this (which I highly commend by the way - I admire people who don't sit back and expect things to be spoon fed to them, give them some guidance, advice, tips and support and let them run with it.  You will learn more in process and it may spark creattive constructive thought in the forums) - I advise you to read the system doc, and then read the orginal posts on covers, then read it again.

Then ask yourself - "Will I devote the entire season tracking this, and share any insights them comes out of it with the group on a daily basis"

Remember - I will provide the spreadsheet - you will just have to click update each day - and look at what the plays should be and record if the predicted plays win or lose.

If the answer is "YES" let me know.  Just writing this post got me even more intrigued if this works or not - so I hope the anwer is "YES"

Yeah, I'll do it.  I too am curious as how it turns out.

A lot of systems have Sagarin part of the plays.  Doing this for the rest of year will at least give something for next year. Hopefully, people that have experience with this system, will give advice, plus tips etc.  Let's see how we can maximize it like we're doing on the Underdog System.

Hi DegenGamble! Great job! Do you have this file MLB_RPI_2012_v2.xlsm updated till the end of 2012 season? I need RPI daily history from it.

Degen &  Leprechaun,

Thanks for what you do with the spreadsheets.  This is great work.  Do either one of you do work for websites.  I have something I think either of you might be interested in or even pay you.
