Geelong Cats @ $10...............................................................................darn me, what is wrong with the Australian media when it comes to sport, typical tall popey syndrome and gotta get them down type stuff. This is an organization that has now built a solid foundation with the emergence of some great young talent to play next season along with the typical brilliance of Chapman, Selwood and Johnson. Sure Ablett has left but in his final year he was more of a distraction than a commodity. The bookies are not too blame as it's the public perception and media reporting that have set Geelong to win the flag at a cool $10 alongside the Western Bulldogs. The top three sides ahead of Geelong are this year's premiers Collingwood then St Kilda and Hawthorn.

Now I need to state I am a Geelong supporter and have been all my life am very passionate and study this team along with the other fourteen teams and have won alot of money betting on my Cats. The average age of the list is 27 but it is misleading to a degree as 5 players will be over 32 years of age by the midway point of next season and then there is a nice crop of youth aged 21 to 27. I can also tell you that Mark Thompson was not 100% commited to his job as he was approached by the Essendon football club only five weeks prior to the finals beginning which is very dissapointing coming from a man who has stated that he's burnt out and tired of coaching only to take up a job with his old club Essendon (not yet confirmed but will happen within the coming year most likely the 2012 season).

Back to the odds....I suggest if any of you out there who are dwelling into shares or even perhaps gambling here or there as you have a healthy tax return or spare cash then invest in this Geelong Football Club in 2011. St Kilda will not get there again as they have had numerous chances and faultered and they should have won it on the 1st attempt against Collingwood with only seconds left and the ball in their forward pocket. That is history but Collingwood favourites? Geelong were only 4 points away from playing in another Preliminary final and chances are they would have beaten the Dogs to play the Magpies but again that's history and the loss to Collingwood was far more devastating to players than what it may have appeared. I have heard they are not too happy with the new kids on the block and to lose in the manner they did is something they will be eager to rectify come September next year. All reports is they are starting very early this summer in training which is a good sign. I can't see the Magpies making it next season for some reason it's not that I'm pissed but more the fact they played a Geelong team that was not at 100% on the night and it showed dramatically the following week against St Kilda who they drew with, a team that only beat Geelong by a less than a single kick a fortnight beforehand. Watch for a big improvement from Tom Hawkins next season who I believe will finally turn out to be the big marking option in the forward line that was lacking as Mooney had a poor season. Again I need to state that for a team that was 4 points away from another potential grand final berth and has been written off as the end of an era etc is quite foolish and the bookies would be more than happy to have the cats outside favourites for next season. Put the money on Geelong to win the flag and sit back and enjoy the profits as this team is far from done

rod that's fair enough but where has Geelong finished in the past 5 years in the competition? I reckon odds on them finishing top 4 again are pretty good right about now and this time around like pregame said they will likely have no injury concerns that sorta hindered their momentum going into the 1st final of last year. It's a massive upside to the list because you can't argue they are probably the best crop of players in the game when fully healthy. The forwards will start peaking later in the season which is another major issue to look at when assessing the current teams progress. Fremantle will be a major contendor at the end of the season because they will regain a huge bulk of players from injury by then. Magpies are the team to beat but if Geelong are playing like they did against the pies in the 1st quarter and kicking goals instead of points then they will be beating anyone they play. Great season all round so far alike the NFL is been fantastic
