Minnesota won't be able to hang with Tech's team speed. Also, the Gophers became bowl eligible by beating a lot of bad teams...including several in a down Big 10 this year.

Tech -13.

Tech team is in total disarray - Tuberville walked out on the team AND the OC has left for Kentucky.  The OL coach is coaching the bowl game but he will be gone as soon as the new coaching staff ( Kingsbury ) arrives.  So where is the motivation for Tech to even show up, much less blow out anybody.  Also, Minn is glad to in a bowl despite a crappy season.  Double digits looks like too much to cover for the TTU Pink Raiders.

As of now, Minn looks like a pretty decent play, around 1 to 1.5 units.  ML sharp / square ratio is pointing to MInn, as is the SI consensus and my projected score calculations shows TTU winning by 28 - 27 ( much less than the 13.5 line as of today ).  Public is all over TTU as evidenced by the unanimous opinions on TTU.  As a former Red Raider myself, I would love to see TTU rebound from the Tuberville disaster and I think they will.  But not in this game.

A fifth grader with no coaching experience could coach Texas Tech over Minnesota! Texas Tech is by far superior!

Texas Tech -13

I expect a 24 to 35 point victory!

combato... i would love to hear how u come up with your score calculations, cause like the ohio game... you are just dead wrong based on statistical analysis. tech should be 14.5 pt fav statistically. if you make up point values based on motivation and coaching situations then that makes sense, but it's impossible to put a number on that. there is no telling how a team will respond to an interim coach and there is certainly not a hard number you can use to include in a score projection.

I argree with combato as far as the coaching being in disarray. But that is about it!! You saw in the Cincy game that their short coaching staff could have cost them the game in the first quarter. They were lost! Like that game Texas Tech is a far superior team. They got it together and pulled it out despite the coaching problem and Duke playing their best game of the year. The same thing happens here. Except its not as close as game.  RED RAIDERS  large! How you came up with TT winning 28-27 i would LOVE to see. Really how is this system suppose to work???

That season ending loss to Baylor just isn't sitting well with the Red Raiders. They will be Gopher hunting in Houston, Texas...

Texas Tech - 38                                      Minnesota - 19

Red Raiders -13                             over 55.5

Both teams will be looking to go into next season on a positive note. Tech is certainly in a better position to do that. Both programs are on the upswing and should be bowling again next year. Tech will present too much offense for the Gophers to handle.

Texas Tech - Over

The only question in this game is how much the coaching upheaval will impact TT.  They have had enough time to deal with this as a team so I think the better team, with the better athletes will win this game and cover.  The program may have had its feelings hurt with Tubbs going to a lesser school like Cincy but the players will band together.  There may be some communication issues but the talent gap is too large for Minn to overcome.

TT by 3 TDs      3 unit play

I would be betting my kids college fund + my 401K if TX Tech was getting 13.5....

That said, this is tough to call.  I have seen a lot of "superior" teams this bowl season lay a big friggin turd.  Laying juice has not been bountiful this year so far.

Would rather have the points, but I think the play to  look into is the over.  TX Tech is fast and can throw, and Min has not faced a decent passing offense this year, so I see TT moving the ball well and getting into the high 30's.  That leaves Minn getting into the high teens.  I think a garbage 4Q over cover is the play at one unit.

Good luck to all who pick either side - lets get some cash!

I think this will be the biggest win of any team during this years bowl season...

Texas Tech will easily score all day and despite what the numbers say there defense isn't that bad. I felt the same way about Baylor's defense this season and it showed last night.

Minnesota will not only struggle tonight, they will be embarrassed!

I'm predicting that Texas Tech will hit the over ON THEIR OWN. Everyone is afraid to predict blowouts because they're not all that common in bowl games. This game is an exception...

Texas Tech 59 Minnesota 10

If everyone is so confident in TT than why has the spread not changed even when 65% of the public is on TT?

Lets see how this game turns out.  I expect a closer game than 13 points, not necessarily a 1 pt TTU victory.   The Duke disaster last night can hardly be used for comparison ( Duke giving up 2 TD in the last 50 seconds to lose the cover ).   Note how many people are touting TTU in this thread which is an indicator of public money and public never money is never a great place to bet one's money, although the public wins about 49% of the time when team is a dd favorite.  I have some other other indicators that lean to TTU as well including the amount of money bet at smart books vs square books on the money line.

Much of TTU;s impressive numbers were built in their first three games against very very weak opposition.  Defense is non existent and the offense has to carry the team in every game.  AND they struggled to beat Kansas in Lubbock ( won by 3 or something like that ).  I do not feel good laying double digits with this defense against any team, even Minnesota.
