#26 Posted: 10/11/2011 7:00:24 PM if hawaii gets up early and SJST has to go to the air this game gets out of hand quick. hawaii has gotten better every week. with a bye to rest the injured I think hawaii might blow the doors of sjst.
hawaii -6 is a joke. this should be at least double digits. |

Final Score: SJS 28 Hawaii 24!!!
OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Moniz has thrown one interception this year. Faulkner has doubled that total in the last game vs BYU. I'm guessing BYU stuffed SJSU's running game, so he had to go uncharacteristically...out of desperation...to the air.
Am I wrong?
I was only responding to your claim that San Jose has improved their passing game. The facts show differently.
Anyway, I think this situation plays perfectly to Hawaii's game. Defense against the run is stiff. Defense against the air...not so good, but then again...Faulkner is terrible.
Notable exceptions for Hawaii: big daddy's nailed 'em as usual.
Over at 55 looks very good. Taking Hawaii for an easy 6 points as well.

#28 Posted: 10/12/2011 2:15:10 AM The UNLV game shouldnt be used as a measuring stick. Come on hawaii boys in vegas means....Party!!! lol. But they also were on the back end of a two week roadtrip. and playing a UNLV team with payback on their minds. Hawaii beat them 59-21 in hawaii the previous year. And 3 out of the 4 previous meetings were hawaii blowouts. while they are currently non-conference rivals ( hawaii will join MWC next year) that agreed to play eachother regularly. There is a sense of a rivalry and also disrespect hawaii was sending the vegas crowd (one article read: is this the year we have more hawaii fans in the stands than UNLV in vegas?) Hawaii got a well-deserved wake up call by a fired up team. but dont use that game as a measuring stick. |

#29 Posted: 10/12/2011 3:57:00 AM Thank you BigDaddyHPD! If Hawaii plays well we can all cash. I heard at the UNLV game 50 buses had to take Hawaii tail-gaters to the game. Us island folks left a lot of our moolah iin LV that weekend as we do most every weekend. The powers to be here in our islands will never legalize gambling here even with our economy struggling. Today's paper said nearly half of our public school students are on free or reduced lunch. OVER 90,000 kids! We have a caste system here. The privates like Pres. Obama's old school Punahou, do not need to worry about lunch money. They send their kids to Notre Dame like Manti Teo. Then there is Kamehameha, Iolani, St. Louis, etc. All the privates. Maybe the rail will help our situation.

#33 Posted: 10/13/2011 4:16:52 PM Trying to make a case for a pathetic team like San Jose St. is useless. If you want to throw your money away,be my guest! From 2008 to 2010, Hawaii is 5-1 ATS as road favorites. In the same time period,San Jose is 3-6 ATS as home dogs. From 2008 season to present, San Jose St is only 5-11 in all revenge situations. They've been dominated on the scoreboard & the spread by; Stanford,Boise St,Utah,Utah St., and HAWAII. While there is some improvement noted by beating the number, they still can't get past Nevada,Fresno St, & Louisiana Tech either! Jeez- Case closed!

#39 Posted: 10/14/2011 12:18:23 AM Is it possible the unlv-hawaii game was fixed? I remember the ps on that game was surprisingly low from the start. I expected it to widen as the week went by but it did not -- it never budged. This has happened in several games this season with other games. It's like a lot of big betters know something that the rest of us don't. In that game, what they knew was the fix was in. We're all agreed that unlv is an awful team and that hawaii is not so bad. Yet in that one game, unlv plays like a champ. |

#40 Posted: 10/14/2011 12:37:09 AM This is for certain... Both teams will not or be able to rush much so it's passing game. Moniz is a much better quarterback. Line moved down to Hawaii -5 and I'm taking it with medium play since I made the large on USC :).. SJSU isn't that good.. Trust me.. I live 3 blocks from the school. They won NMEX St because the quarter was gone. They won at Col St because it was given to them. Hawaii cannot disappoint themselves beyond where they are right now. Hawaii comes with winner mentality. In sports, confident is already 50% win.
Hawaii -5 Medium. |

#42 Posted: 10/14/2011 12:43:46 AM I went back and looked at the line movements and public betting on the hawaii-unlv game, and it looks even fishier than I remembered. On tues evening before the game, the line was 20.5 and pub betting was 81% on Hawaii. After 4 days, pub betting went up to as high as 87% and never below 84%, and yet the ps dropped to 17, meaning sbooks trying to get bets on Hawaii. This is supposed to mean the "smart" money was on unlv big time. I've come to realize, however, this smart money crap doesn't mean anything, cause it often plays out just the opposite. In this case, however, unlv was the smart bet, but he vast majority of the betting public didn't know something wasn't right about that game. |

#44 Posted: 10/14/2011 1:42:48 AM anyone notice the betting-ps move patterns are similar for Haw-sjs as they were for haw-unlv? Ps mon am was -7 Haw. Now it's -5.5. Yet pub betting has been consistently in mid-80% for haw. 4 poss reasons: 1) Whole bunch of smart money on sjs. 2) Smart money trends don't mean diddly and big money betters love losing money, or 3) big money is manipulating the ps to befuddle the rest of us, or 4) they know something the rest of us are not aware of, which will likely affect actual ps.. Far as I know, the only big injury issue involves a sjs rb. |

#46 Posted: 10/14/2011 2:15:58 AM The UNLV game is the reason the spread is so messed up for this game. Advantage Hawaii bettors. Rather than conspiracy, I'd say it was an anomaly.
Hawaii has a running game. Last year, Alex Green ran for a thousand yards. This year, the successor looks to be a freshman 6' 240lb former quarterback from Samoa. He ripped off 100 yds vs La Tech last game.
Hawaii's weakness is the offensive line. Check the injury list and you'll agree with me. Still, that didn't stop Hawaii from putting up almost 500 yards vs La Tech.
The 5 pt spread is looking very tasty.

#47 Posted: 10/14/2011 2:48:55 AM Here's predictions on haw-sjs, worth the same as everyone else's -- nothing. sjs will pull off a "miraculous" upset, hawaii will have at least 4 turnovers, and the turnover margin will be at least +3 sjs. Call it a "trend", hunch or whatever. |

#49 Posted: 10/14/2011 8:47:05 AM Hawaii not that good on the road but they can put up lots of points so lay the 6 and hope that SJS has the turnovers big time.
