If Beholder runs in the Classic imo will be the horse to beat. AP will be the favorite most likely but I will play against. Beholder, Honor Code and Keen Ice would be my top 3 right now

Beholder in Cali 15 Wins from 18 starts Beholder outside of Cali 0 Wins from 2 starts. I'm very leery of connections who don't travel, it has been noted that she can be a head case. Let's be honest her competition has been WEAK!! Seems like they avoid shipping unless they absolutely have to. Can't fault her backers but I probably won't be one.

Beholder in Cali 15 for 18 Beholder outside Cali 0 for 2 Has beaten no one this year, clearly connections prefer not to ship anywhere, it has been noted she can be a head case. All that at a very short price, no thanks! Can't argue with those who back her but my $ will be elsewhere

Very valid points. I've written on another thread I think both Honor Code and Beholder are 124 rated animals. I don't there's any dispute they are probably the top older horses of the field.
But they are going to have to be exceptionally smart to repel American Pharoah, Keen Ice and Frosted with the latter two improving whilst American Pharoah sets the standard.
How good is Beholder? We simply do not know on all known evidence. She hasn't beaten much though form lines with Hoppertunity suggests she's worthy of her 124 rating albeit only achieved once.
Could it be the year of the fillies and mares? Treve is the odds on favourite for this Sunday's Prix Arc de Triomphe which is Europe most prestigious middle distance race. She's going for a hat-trick but comparing Treve to Beholder isn't valid as Treve has taken on the colts several times and proved herself a 130+ animal on her day.
I think the question presented to us bettors: Is she the smart value play in the Classic at current odds of 7/2? For me no. The percentage call has to be to take her on. If I hadn't gotten a nifty on AP before the Kentucky Derby at 11/1, he's another I would take on too as this could be one race too many. On the other hand, a more sensible tactical ride should suit him much better rather then setting the race up for others. In any case, I've got him covered and will probably look for an EW bet for some place money and an outside shot for the W.
The question is with whom. Honor Code I still think he needs to prove his stamina. That leaves Frosted and Keen Ice and of the two Frosted is one I would like to have onside on the day. In his next race he got his typical ride away from the pace war he got with American Pharoah that did both no favours. A similar ride will see him stay strongly along with Keen Ice.
The next question is pace. Who will make the pace? All the major contenders will be aware of the pitfalls of fighting for the lead. Liam's Map and Moreno could be obvious contenders to lead if both turn up with the top two of the market sitting in behind and Keen Ice, Frosted, Tonalist and Honor Code in rear.
A fascinating contest especially from a tactical view. On actual performances, American Pharoah a deserving favourite but whether he can convert that status into a W rests in the hands of tactics.

Really hoping all the dumb dumbs trippin off her 2 races outside of California put there money where there mouth is. I would love to get a great price on Beholder, although I doubt it because there are some smart & decent handicappers playing that day.
The Kentucky Oaks was a good field, and she had tons of pre-race trouble, yes! With all that said she still came in 2nd so I'll take my chances with a much more mature, and professional mare.
In the the Ogden Phipps she came up injured so I would throw that out. She is older more experienced, and will be shipped much earlier. I'm not going to single her, but I like her right up there with Honor Code, Liam's Map, AP, and Keen Ice.
I hit the superfecta in the Classic last year, and I plan on cashing again.

Great statement! Tell people to put their $ where their mouth but you won't even do it! HAHAHA, you just backed 5 horses in your post. Condradict yourself much? Tell me the top 3 horses she beat this year? I'll be waiting for that laughable response

Cheers SoonB. Honor Code beaten! Hopefully goes for Mile?? Tough trial but surely was plenty fit enough??? Cheers for clarifying MOreno. Liam's Map is the AP favourite atm with Paddy Power for Dirt Mile. So target's not clear.

Reminds me of Zenyatta. No reason to ship, make them come to your house.
